Back in December, Coin Desk reported that the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia were working on a cooperation initiative to " test a new cryptocurrency for cross-border payments." The Governor of the United Arab Emirates central bank, Mubarak Rashid al-Mansouri, stated:
This is the first times[sic] the monetary authorities of two countries cooperation to use blockchain technology.

Mubarak Rashid al-Mansouri also stated that this initiative is a "digitisation of what we do already between central banks and banks." Not much has surfaced in the news about this venture thus far, although there have been other concerns. Forbes Middle East reported yesterday that "cryptojacking" is on the rise and becoming an issue for the U.A.E. as well as other countries.
Last year the U.A.E. tackled major threats from cyptominers, ransomware and malware. According to Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report, the U.S. had the largest global share of all cryptomining detections in 2017—nearly 24.47%—followed by Japan and Germany. In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia has the highest share of cyptominers, while U.A.E. had the third largest. The U.A.E. is now ranked 52 when it comes to internet security threat and in the region the Emirates takes the 9th position in terms of internet security.

The U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia are high on the list, and it seems they will have many other issues to face in the coming months. Not only is security an ongoing threat, but one of the main problems with these upcoming cryptocurrencies is they are not backed by anything of value. That is why GODcoin will eventually be the solution to that problem with the stability of it being backed by gold and silver.
