I agree with this post for the most part but, isn’t the whole point of currencies like ripple to be used by banks. Not necessarily for investing in but more for a practical matter, using it for international wire transfers so that it can be significantly faster, cheaper and more transparent than the existing system.

To your point about too much variability in price I think that is also supposed to be solved by ripple in that they have held 70% of the coins out of circulation so they can try to maintain a consistent value.
