Can governments prohibit cryptocurrencies?

I think they, if they are to seriously, could not.

Our history tells us that governments cannot eradicate what’re deeply rooted in our desires.

The Roman Empire tried to ban Christianity, but it would later be approved by Constantine Emperor, and be made a state religion in the end by Theodosius Emperor. This reminds me of the fact that some countries such as Sweden, Estonia, England, and China are thinking of issuing cryptocurrencies.

Abolition law was in force in the United States in the 1920s. But consumption of whiskey did not decrease throughout that decade. We know that Canada, sharing the border with the United States, boosted the export of whiskey then.

After all, the question of whether governments can ban cryptocurrencies is not a matter of their intention, but one of their ability.
