Bitcoin, OK. But what else? – part 2

In my last post I coverd Bitcoin, so now it's time for the altcoins. Due to the upcoming Bitcoin forks, most of them are on sale now. The first part was covered yesterday, this is part 2.

As for Bitcoin, I won’t go into technical details behind each coin, I’m gonna write about it from an investor/trader point of view.

We start with ARK
ARK is an ecosystem of linked chains and a virtual spiderweb of endless use-cases that make ARK highly flexible, adaptable, and scalable. With 8 seconds block times, it is one of the fastest in the industry.

Compared to Bitcoin, ARK was at its all times highs mid-September 2017 when it was worth 122900 Satoshis (or 0.001229 BTC), but it’s going down ever since. Today price is around 43920 Satoshis (0.0004392 BTC), 14 times bigger than it was worth in March 2017(when it was listed on the market), 3163 Satoshis (0.00003163 BTC).

Compared to USD, ARK was listed in March at $0,03 with a slow and steady growth up to $4,05 mid-September. After that we saw pretty much expected correction and ARK is now available for $2,62. IMHO, that is a good price.

With a market cap of $276,108,319 ARK is a very strong mid-cap player. The adoption is good, it looks good in the long run and yes, I added to my position at these prices.

The second one is VERTCOIN
VERTCOIN is a Bitcoin-like blockchain currency with additional features such as Stealth Address technology and ASIC resistant Proof-of-work (PoW) function. The main difference between Bitcoin and VERTCOIN is the latter's resistance to centralized mining and the long term promise of VERTCOIN developers to keep it that way. VERTCOIN has already forked two times to a new PoW function because of a veritable threat of centralized mining.

Compared to Bitcoin, VERTCOIN is at its all times highs in right now at 79900 Satoshis (0.00079900 BTC) and it’s going up. I bought it just a week ago for 22986 Satoshis (0.00022986 BTC) per VRTCOIN. Yes, I’m up 300% in just 7 days. Which is nothing compared to those who bought it on January 1st for 3578 Satoshis (0.00003578 BTC).

Same thing compared to USD. New high today at $4,78 for 1 VERTCOIN. It was just $1,34 just a week ago. Since January 1st (when the price was $0,03) it grew more than 160 times.

Today, VERTCOIN has a market cap of $80,954,351 and It keeps growing. IMHO, it will continue to grow (no idea how high), but I never buy a coin at new highs. Like always, price correction is coming in the future. Here you can watch the video analysis from my man Nicholas Merten

The third on is ZCOIN
Unlike Bitcoin and other similar coins, with ZCOIN the anonymity set is on a dramatically higher magnitude. Instead of having an anonymity set limited to the few dozen, ZCOIN has an anonymity set that encompasses all minted coins in a particular RSA accumulator that can scale to many thousands and unlike other solutions is not subject to transaction graph analysis.

Compared to Bitcoin, ZCOIN reached its all times highs in June 2017 at 699724 Satoshis (0.00699724 BTC), and it found resistance a couple of times more at the same levels. Since then it came down to its today’s price of 197399 Satoshis (0.00197399 BTC). On January 1st the price was 52439 Satoshis (0.00052439 BTC).

Compared to USD, ZCOIN was at all times high in June at $19,20, it had a huge drop since then. Today it’s relatively stable at $11,56. On January 1st the price was just $0,48, which makes it a 24 times growth in 10 months.

With the market cap of $38,269,725 ZCOIN is growing to the mid-caps. The idea is good, the team as well (which is extremely important) and adoption is growing. I bought it a month ago at $7,75 and I’m holding it for the long run.

The forth is SUBSTRATUM
An open-source network that allows anyone to allocate their spare computing resources to make the internet a free and fair place for the entire world. SUBSTRATUM will revolutionize the hosting industry with per-request billing via microtransactions, all handled by blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.

SUBSTRATUM’s been on the market for just a month so there hadn’t been many big changes. It started at $0.04, or 1282 Satoshis (0.00001282 BTC) and today’s price is $0,13 or 2354 Satoshis (0.00002354 BTC). So, as you can see it has a slow and healthy growth compared both to USD and Bitcoin.

The market cap of $31,356,849 shows that there’s a lot of optimism for SUBSTRATUM and we’ll see it go much higher in 2018.

STEEM would definitely made this list, but since you are here, I assume you know all about it. Other honorable mentions (and my holdings) are OMISEGO, LISK, TENX, NOLIMITCOIN and SYSCOIN

And my absolute favorite IOTA, the second big game changer, will get its own post, the next one.

Until then, STAY SAFE AND HODL!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm also a big ARK Fan. You should have look at PIVX, very nice development team and they also just implemented Zerocoin.

I've been watching PIVX for quite some time. I missed it when it was below $3.00 and I'm still hoping it could go there again. Especially with the Segwit2x fork coming. So I'm waiting...
