Steemit rewards January 2019
After a month with no update, it is time for a new post about the rewards I get from different Steemit services and initiatives. Because I can only look back 31 days, I will compare January 2019 with November 2018 here.
Voting distribution
Based on steemreports.com you can get insight in the upvotes you get for a certain amount of time. Below you can see the voting distribution of all incoming votes in both January and November. It can be seen (or seems) that the share of @steembasicincome has gone down enormously and the share of @steem-ua and @actifit have gone up. It is however a lot more complicated than last time, since SBI now uses all their accounts to vote. More on that later in this blog.

Author rewards
The second important thing to take into account is the total amount of author rewards that I got during this month. Steemworld.org helps here, since you can see the rewards of the last 30 days on your account page there (see below). One disadvantage is that rewards are always paid out 7 days after you author a post. That means that the reward data from Steemworld are 7 days behind the Steemreports data about upvotes. To keep the calculation easy, I assume that the amount of upvotes by the different services are comparable for both periods. Since I post 4 to 5 times a week nearly all weeks, that should be pretty close to the reality.
According to the Steemworld data, I got 25.44 STEEM (Power) and 1.12 SBD in author rewards last month. Since not all my posts are paid paid out in the same way, it is difficult to exactly determine how high the rewards in STEEM were. For the calculation I assume that the average price of STEEM was around 0.3 SBD. That makes a total reward value of 29.17 STEEM (compared to 20.12 in November).
Results
In the table below you can find the results of the calculation for this month, including a recap from November and October. I only take the services into account that are among the five biggest contributors/upvoters. For Steem Basic Income, I summed all individual accounts that upvoted me (8 in total).
| Service | Share (%) | STEEM (Jan) | STEEM (Nov) | STEEM (Oct) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| @actifit | 27.7 % | 8.08 | 1.67 | 0.62 |
| @steembasicincome | 24.3 % | 7.09 | 9.30 | 10.68 |
| @steem-ua | 19.0 % | 5.54 | 3.06 | 2.96 |
| @silvergoldbotty | 6.1 % | 1.78 | 1.53 | 2.41 |
| @upvoteshares | 3.6 % | 1.05 | 0.56 | 0.79 |
Actifit is on top this month, predominantly because I posted a lot of reports from my holiday in New Zealand. Since I usually don't walk enough to get a high enough count, this probably won't happen again in the near future.
SBI is second this month with still a big contribution to my author rewards. It however has gone down by about 2.2 STEEM compared to November. The reduction could have to do with the new voting and calculating algorithm, but seems a bit big. The fact that is has gone down that much is even more alarming when you know I even delegated some of my SP for extra shares in the initiative. I will be monitoring this throughout the coming weeks and months.
Steem-UA is in third place and has increased a bit compared to last month (probably because my personal score improved). Stax and Upvoteshares have gone up quite a bit, mostly because I posted more frequently than in November.
Conclusion and further thoughts
Based on the numbers, I'd say most of the services are still working well for me. SBI brings in a steady income but has gone down over the months. I might delegate some more SP, but won't buy new shares. Steem-UA is still the best service when you calculate the Return on Investment. Extra bonus is that the rewards are increasing together with your personal score. Delegating more than my current 100 SP however would not be beneficial, since I hardly post more than four times a week. Actifit is a nice way to make more out of your activities and turns out to be highly profitable. Although I will be a lot less active the coming months, I will try to report at least once a week.
All other services (including @dustsweeper and @minnowbuilder, which are not in the list) still provide a, slow but steady, return, so I won't be changing any of those.
What do you think about the numbers? And do you have any recommendations for me? Let me know in the comments below!
Goedenmorgen Erik,
I think that als je naast deze super resultaten maar een hoop lol hebt that is whats counts, i like that you dont zelf vote thats a huge accomplishment.
Asre you in the engagement league by @abh12345 ?

But dear fellow dutchie, FUN is also a factor here, never forget that.
Fijne vrijdag en goed weekend,

Ha @brittandjosie,
Helemaal waar.
Erik
Top ,
Fijn weekend
I wonder how come steembasicincome its share became less...

They changed their voting algorithm. I think the value of your upvotes is now more important than the fact that you upvote the SBI posts. I always upvote their posts with 100%, so I used to get a 100% bonus on my shares. Since my upvotes are not so big (I only have around 500 SP voting power) the bonus for me is now smaller.
I could be wrong, but this is what I think is the most important explanation.
