An Article about Streamity – The future of Local Coin Exchanges!

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

Blockchain technology is set to change the world. Bitcoin is just the proof of concept – everyday new coins are being developed that have the potential to change our lives with their revolutionary use-cases.

The future is now!

I have been invited by one such coin, Streamity, to write an article about future crypto use. Will there continue to be technical barriers to entry for new users? Not likely!

Much like the Steem blockchain, cryptocurrencies in general are technically complex but become easier to manage over time with a gradually increasing level of third party services built on top of, and between, each token. These technologies do not develop over night, there are no 'out of the box' solutions, and as such, a strong and active community is always a good signal when measuring the potential of any cryptocurrency.

Ironically, this leads to the situation where supposedly trustless technology requires users and developers to trust each other, and the chain, in order to get anything done. Take this example from last year:

After I started blogging about coffee production, several people got in touch with me about the hows and how much's of buying our coffee. Though we have been producing and selling for years, we still only sell within a small circle, a 'circle of trust' so-to-speak. This is because the long logistical chain between us and our customers is frought with complications, and without a base level of trust it can be hard for either party to make the first move.

@professorbromide took the bait though, and sent SBD directly to my steem account. He was making a huge leap of faith; there would be no recourse other than publically complaining if we had decided to pocket the cash and not send the coffee. As it was, it took months to reach him. The so-called 'trustless technology' was there, but we needed to trust each other in order to use it.

And the truth is, this is not a crypto problem. When family members used to order from a website I had set up, they too had to trust that good ol' second cousin Alex was going to pull through with the coffee orders after they had already paid.

Enter Streamity!

With Streamity's new StreamDesk platform, cryptocurrencies and fiat can be exchanged for goods or services (or other currencies) with the added protection of a smart contract powered escrow system. To say that in plain english, this new platform is allowing us to set up our own neutral escrow smart contract for ANY transaction between parties that can be confirmed, such as exchanging any product, service or currency for any one of those three.

I have been working to learn about and implement cryptocurrencies into our business for almost two years now, and I have seen the steady slog toward usability by the general public. Finally, with projects like Streamity, we are getting to the gold at the end of the rainbow, the capstone of the pyramid.

Sounds great but not for my grandma...

Think again! Remember, StreamDesk allows payments in fiat currencies like dollars and euros as well! Image being able to sell a product for crypto without having to explain cryptos to the uninitiated! Truly a one stop shop for emerging entrepreneurs like us.

Excellent friend, I wish you much success.

Excellent post.

It's truly a gift to have the ability to explain complex things in a manner that laymen can understand.

Charge on, my friend.

Namaste, jaiChai

That is very kind of you! :)
