An Article about BandZ – The future of our Connected World

Blockchain technology is set to change the world. Bitcoin is just the proof of concept – everyday new coins are being developed that have the potential to change our lives with their revolutionary use-cases.

The future is now!

I have been invited by one such coin, BandZ, to write an article about the future of your favorite bloated telecom company (hint: They might be out of a job sooner than you thought!)

My loyal friends, family and followers will know that I live with my wife in a rural town of a rural county in a rural country on a continent known for dense foliage. We have struggled for years to maintain connection with all of you, and those struggles continue. Of course it is easier with experience, we now know many loopholes for dealing with the Telecom companies, how to avoid contracts with them and how to get the most Megabytes for our pesos (it's not many). But we have never given up on the dream that in our later years we will laugh and regale our descendants with tales of the internet struggles of the early century. First we have to fix the problem though.

Enter BandZ!

The image above is only a descriptive graphic, but here we can see the connected nature of world wide networks. Currently the internet is the largest world wide network of its kind and since its inception many gatekeepers have arisen to challenge the dream of an open and decentralized web. At the present moment we pay a Mexican company weekly to maintain connected to all of you on the Steem Blockchain. If the Mexican company decides we are not worthy, it won't matter how decentralized Steem is, I won't be able to get there. Not that there's anything wrong with Mexicans.

But the promise of decentralization is that everyone can connect, and with bandwidth on its way to becoming a basic human right, a cryptographic solution for connectivity is bringing hope to billions around the world that live just outside the world wide web.

With incredible next generation technology like Aeternity and Hashgraph (which really make Bitcoin look like old news), a massive world connecting network will be created that will make every computer and phone a node for replicating connection signal.

How does it work?

We all know that our modern day phones can connect to wifi or data networks, receiving content from the internet. Our phones also have the technology to become hotspots themselves, to replicate the signal they receive to allow other devices to connect. With this same existing technology, we can turn our hub and spoke internet world into a self replicating mass of connections!

Each time that you use bandwidth, you pay for it, just like today. But as you serves as a node for others to connect to, your device is also earning money as part of the necessary infrastructure of the very system! This aspect is so revolutionary that the BandZ team forsees that many people will be able to pay for their own internet use just by leaving their computer on. What a world!
