RE: Open Letter To @Dan About an EOS Based Social Media Platform
Good points although I'm not sure about the ID aspect. Since the wallet is open there should be a possibility for anonymity. Anyway, here are some ideas I'd like to see improved:
- there needs to be a 2nd downvote option causing less harm
- it should be possible not only to follow or mute users but also topics
- the resteem option should come with the possibility to add a comment
- resteeming/sharing articles should be possible for old content as well
- I'd like to have a bookmark tool that others can look at as kind of a "favorite articles"
-direct messaging beyond memos is needed - very important: Witnesses must provide certain minimum standards like relevant knowledge, experience and paying taxes.
- a reward system based on "recursive reputation" as described here
Just because you have to verify your identity to the platform doesn't mean it has to be publically available.
I'd love to be able to comment when re-sharing something.
I'll go a step forward, not only re-sharing old work should be possible, but up voting and earning from old work as well. Youtube creators can make a good residual income from their old works.
A messaging system is desperately needed
I'm worried about the ID verfication in a different way. It's about the single account issue that is really bothering me. Since we are talking about a Social Media/blogging platform, a lot of users post private information about where and how they live, about their pets and when and where they go on vacation.
That is a huge treasure trove for criminals. All they have to do is look up the living details of a user with maybe 10-100k $ in their wallet and then pay them a visit. I wrote something about this problem: Crypto Bank Robbers Make House Calls. The crazy truth is that with cryptos, it has never been that easy to rob someone...
Therefore I think users should be allowed to have several (and anonymous) accounts where they store their crypto and from where they can make their upvotes. We shouldn' t make it robbers too simple.
