See part 1 here.

Well, this is kind of an anti-climax, but in a good way. I finished putting all the pieces together. I plugged it in. I made sure everything was correct. I pushed the on button on the little on/off switch I had bought and plugged in to two pins on the motherboard.

It worked.

I splurged and bought windows 10 because the cheap Windows 7 keys online seemed shady and possibly illegal, and I didn't want to waste time getting Linux going.

I installed Windows on the machine. I downloaded some drivers for the GPUs, super easy. I tweaked some Windows settings, like not letting the computer sleep, and I downloaded the Claymore Miner software. I set up the mine.bat file with some copy/paste from a tutorial, and I put my wallet address in.

It worked. I started getting shares right away. And only a few minutes later, I saw my balance go up on my pool account!

And so now it's just humming away. It's only 3 GPUs at the moment, though I have a fourth I intend to add, and it's not very hot or loud.

And now that it's done, I'm a total addict. I want more action. More mining. ASIC mining. More GPU rigs. MORE!! I'm daydreaming about renting industrial space and figuring out how to cool a ton of rigs, where am I going to get all the GPUS...

I've learned a lot of interesting things along the way which I'll share in my next post. I just want to say that if you have ever had the itch to build a little GPU miner but are intimidated - don't be. It's not as hard as you think.

awesome job
Your right it is very addicting always won't more, if I make this much with this imagine what I can make with more lol it never ends. I only have a 4 card rig and can't wait to get more cards I want to do a couple more rigs
Welcome to the world of mining

Great job!

I'm a pretty experienced miner myself, I've built about four hard-frame rigs for myself and others, but now I run a commercial mining operation with 10 rigs (more coming soon). I would love to give you some advice for building rigs, and my favorite part, getting creative with the cost-saving techniques.

Wow I would LOVE to know more. Where do you keep them? How do you deal with the heat?

So my process has evolved quite a bit since I originally started. I kept my mining rig in the coldest part of my house that I could find, and put a 20" box fan behind it to pull fresh, cool air over the cards. If you are running just one mining rig, that should provide sufficient cooling capacity.

At this point, I keep them in dedicated commercial space that circulates cold winter air into the room, and exhausts the hot air with the use of inline fans and a home-made exhaust manifold and system of duct work. (I used to run ~26,000 BTUs of AC into the room, but its far more expensive than circulating air.)

More in depth explanations are coming soon, I'll make sure to get them edited and posted ASAP.

That's awesome! Congratulations. A great way to start the new year.

outstanding very good work im ur fan

Great user name 🙈🙉🙊😸🤖👀🙃🙃🙃

Your work is appriciated. You must share all the details bit by bit so that everyone would be benefited from your hardwork....there should be list of equipments, expenses, shopes, arrangment n videos too.....keep it up

yeah i will

Minning is i think not that much profitable as buying cheap altcoins?

I think that's a common misconception but whatevs
