A Look at the Life Inside a Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine
In October, 2014 Motherboard gained access to a massive, secretive Bitcoin mine housed within a modified factory in Liaoning Province in rural northeastern China.
This is the behemoth machinery that keeps the digital currency’s decentralized network up and running, and its financiers and operators are profiting happily.
The mine the staff visited is just one of six sites owned by a secretive group of four people, part of a huge mining operation that, as of time of the visit, increasingly generated 4,050 bitcoins a month, equivalent to a monthly gross of $1.5 million during that time! Imagine that in today's prices!
