JD.com Has Applied For More Than 200 Blockchain Patents
The Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com has applied for over 200 blockchain patents.
It seems the competition amongst Chinese technology firms to get as much blockchain patent under its belt is heating up with Alibaba, a major competitor of JD.com, applied for 262 blockchain patents.
Other internet giants are also actively pursuing blockchain patents with Tencent and Baidu filed for 80 and 50 patent applications respectively.
In a recent report by the Intellectual Property Center of China Information and Communication cites JD.com in first place for global blockchain patent strength with Alibaba coming in second place.
Globally, China is the forerunner in blockchain applications with 4,435 blockchain patent applications which is around 48% of all blockchain related patent applications with the U.S. trailing behind on second place with 1,833 fillings.
