Steemit to the moon!

We all say that, and we probably say that about several other cryptocurrencies too. But is this just wishful thinking? Are we hoping for too much with Steemit? What chances does Steemit have against the titans of social media like Facebook and Twitter? Nobody knows, but I think we can say one thing for sure, If we want to make Steemit compete with these other platforms we are going to have to start spreading the word in a serious way. Most people are clueless and suspicious about cryptocurrencies, and for that reason a social media platform with a cryptocurrency as it's backbone may deter some people.

We are lucky in the sense that we are here quite early on, even if you just joined today, steemit is still is beta afterall. I think this privilege comes with a responsibility to try and expand the platform if you believe it has a future, which I do. Steemit is a nice place to be, there are no ads on the site and you are not being tracked by shadowy advertisement overlords who spy on your activity. Obviously this is a massive selling point, especially to people like me who value a sense of privacy. The site does hold true promise financially. I think there will come a time where people can make Steemit blogging a full time job. Maybe eventually Steemit will become one of the major hubs for news, maybe one day it will become financially more viable for reporters to publish stories on Steemit instead of their current publication.

If we think about the possibilities are endless, but the truth be told it probably won't get there on it's own. I suggest in the coming days we try to get a friend involved in steemit, or maybe a family member and when that is done ask them to introduce a friend or family member. The more people that are involved, the more chance we have of Steemit being bigger, better and stronger than even Facebook.
