This CryptoCurrency Exchange Got Hacked!steemCreated with Sketch.

Korean exchange Bithumb was hacked recently and caused 31,800 users to lose all of their cryptocurrency. They will be compensated for their losses once they find out the exact number of cryptocurrency that was lost for each user. People are still wondering how the hackers drained users currencies without gaining their passwords, and what Bithumb will do now to prevent further losses for their users. We need a way to find out who these hackers are, or just some way to gain their ip address, so we can lock them up because this does not help new investors gain confidence about putting money into the crypto community. What are your guys thoughts on this? Are you considering switching to a hardware wallet? Thanks for taking time to read this post!

Imagine this; a world where crypto currency is mainstream | Apple/Google/Samsung all develop wallets banks and government join in everything is fine UNTIL something like this happens! the answer the solution?

We need Einstein for that answer..

A nice little though provoking piece. Thanks @cryptotraderx.

To me, the fact Bithumb will refund all coins stolen should be a huge confidence builder for incoming and existing investors alike.

This is emerging technology and an emerging economy, we need to expect these sorts of teething problems. To anyone reading this...... be patient you are in early.

With regards to Wallets/Exchanges

I trade using Bittrex but will transfer out big profits into one of the wallets I have. I think this is the safest way to stay on budget, keep banking profit and leave yourself less exposed to an exchange hack.

Cheers,

Fish

It's ridiculous. This is not a small amount that Bithumb owes now.. I am grateful I am not in their shoes!
