How Many Ethers do the Major ICO projects still Hold? Or Did They Sell Them All? - The Numbers

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

ICOs raise a lot of money. Very often they only accept ETH as a contribution. What did all those projects do with all their Ethers? How much do they have left?

The Numbers for most big ICOs

Please note: balances are not up to date, check Etherscan for up to date balances. This list was created approximately 2 weeks ago, treasury balances were correct as of then. This list is not comprehensive and no guarantees are made for the accuracy of treasury data.

The credits for this data goes to Nic Carter. He also shared a file with the data here.

Of course these numbers don’t say much without context. The team could have a policy to quickly exchange their funds for fiat after the ICO or could have certain lockup-periods active. Also, some of these ICOs also raised funds in the form of BTC, fiat or for instance NEO. That is all not included in this data.

But still, I always like to share what I find with you guys here. Maybe it could be of use to you.

Cheers!

EOS raised a lot more than that so far, right?

So they seem to have sold/unloaded quite a lot!

Interesting to see BAT has such an exact, round number. Curious what other cryptos they hold. I know they had a very short BAT giveaway where Bitcoin was being exchanged for the BAT tokens.... so they probably hold a fair bit of Bitcoin.

Thanks for the data! Cool to see.

Yes they did, and actually it seems that the number in the datasheet is not correct for EOS. You can see the current number of Ethers they hold is 442,754.7495, so about 3 times as much.

huh.... interesting. I wonder why the data was different? 2 weeks wouldn't have changed it that much, right!

anyway. have a great week!

I'm also curious what is supposed to happen in the long run with these tokens... If the price of ETH goes down further, will these projects starting panic-selling? Hrm..

Me too and I think they will keep it until they need to funds to pay employees, taxes, marketing etc. ICO projects are the biggest bag holders of ETH!

So far it brought them a lot of more money and I hope they don't just spend it, since most of those project have far too much money. They don't need it for the development of the project. If bad decisions are made the only thing they end up doing is hiring more programmers to increase the speed of delivery and they might spend it on marketing.

Intersting that EOS only holds 115k ETH. I would have thought that would be a lot more for some reason. I should look into exactly what will happen with that wallet when they launch in the coming months.

Neat data for sure. Thanks!

The data seems wrong in the sheet. EOS holds 3 times as much in their wallet currently: https://etherscan.io/address/0xd0a6e6c54dbc68db5db3a091b171a77407ff7ccf

I'm glad you shared this...

Thanks a lot
