[EN] BurstCoin #1 – Introduction: A more ecologic and less centralized cryptocurrency

Today I write about a cryptocurrency that merits much more popularity:
The Burstcoin is a bit like the cryptocurrency of ecologists. Don't get me wrong, this currency is not financing any ecologic projects, but transactions and coins are generated with much less energy compared to Bitcoin and other similar cryptocurrencies.
Effectively, the Burstcoin is based on the Proof of Capacity (POC) algorithm. This algorithm uses free computer disk space instead of making heavy calculations with a video card, a processor or even an ASIC. Yes, you’re reading well, free disk space of your computer is enough for validating transactions of the Burstcoin blockchain, and hence as well for receiving some Burst as compensation for the work.
Why is Burstcoin more ecologic?
Everybody has a hard disk in his computer however it’s rare to have the full capacity used at 100%. This cryptocurrency doesn’t require any purchase of expensive IT material dedicated to transaction calculations.
A hard disk, once in rotation, consumes in average between 5 and 10 Watt per hour. A high-end video card, commonly used for crypto mining of cryptocurrencies, is about 200 Watt per hour. ASICs, mainly used for Bitcoin and some other Altcoins, consume very often between 750 and 1000 Watt per hour. As you can see, the consumed energy for the validation and generation of Burstcoin is ridiculously small compared to other cryptocurrencies.
Next to being less energy-consuming, the Burstcoin is also less centralized. Why?
Simply because everybody can mine Burstcoins with his common hard disk. The mining of Burstcoins is not restricted to big companies capable to invest thousands of Euros in mining material such as ASICs or high-end Radeon video cards (being out of stock since months when writing this article). You got it: the Burstcoin mining is accessible to everyone, making it much less centralized than other cryptocurrencies mined by mainly huge Chinese companies.
