Sylo
Do we need another communication protocol? Do we need another communication app? My answer to these would be no if Sylo was just another addition to the pile of the same solutions. Instead, Sylo is a fully crypto enabled decentralized confidential communication application. Next to communication, it will be delivering storage and payment solutions. What makes Sylo so extendable is their Connected Applications feature that lets third parties be a part of the network.
Actually Sylo was just a messaging app (that you can download from App Store and the Google Play Store) What changed the things were their partnership with Centrality (centrality.ai) With that partnership Sylo App becomes the center of the Sylo Protocol that with the help of Centrality achieves the ability to include Decentralized Applications (DApps). That is the Connected Applications feature that I mentioned before.
You may think if offering decentralized communication is such a big deal? Actually, it is. Having a company in the middle while expressing all private information with your friends or family is not a relaxing model. We may not notice but we disclose crucial information on apps since today the technology made face to face communication a rare thing I am afraid. So if apps are number 1 choice of communication, we should choose the ones that are decentralized and peer to peer just like Sylo offers.
MAIN APP FEATURES
Profile Management: Here is where you manage your preferred settings and decentralized profile. This is very similar to other apps but what makes Sylo stand out here is that the touch of Connected Applications here. Let's say you use a pizza ordering service that has a Dapp on Sylo protocol, then you may see a custom field like -my pizza delivery address-. That custom field is of course added by that pizza company and only readable by that company since it is an information between only the two you.
Confidential Communication: Just like I mentioned before, Sylo offers confidential decentralized communication. You will not get anxious if your secrets are getting in the hands of someone else. With centralized communication that anxiety is always possible. Like any modern app, Sylo offers video, audio and messaging. Since Sylo is blockchain enabled, and it is fueled by Sylo Tokens (SYLOs) communication can involve charging. If a professional wants to charge for the communication, he/she can do it thanks to built-in crypto wallet system.
Decentralized Address Book: Not much to say about this since it is an essential part of any communication app, it is a must-have. Still, it is worth noting that it is decentralized and will not get in the hands of other people.
Decentralized Storage: I am a telegram user and its storage feature is one of the things that I love the most about it. Sylo is following the same path and will let us access all the content we shared and the content our friends let us access in an easy manner.
Connected Applications: That is my favorite place since that is what makes Sylo special. Here you will be able to explore and add DApps built on the Sylo Protocol, it can be many things like a Dapp from a pizza delivery company or a ride-sharing company etc. They are downloaded and added to your app direct from that section without the need to download from app stores of your mobile operating systems.
Token Wallet: Proving that it is a blockchain based app, Sylo has a built-in wallet that lets you store and send Plug tokens, Ether, and ERC20 tokens.
I'm a happy telegram user but it is safe to say it lacks blockchain features and third-party DApps. Sylo is surely worth a try with its solid plan to deliver a blockchain era communication platform.
