Review - A New PoS Coin - ZestCoin
There's been a flood of masternode coins this year, largely due to the success of Dash. It's amazing to think about but $DASH was around $1500 at its recent top. I realize some people really like Dash, and I am not a hater, but those that call it a scam have some pretty good points. I've also noticed it is very hard for your average small investor to get in on a shared masternode. One concept I like about Dash is they have programs in place to help solve problems like hunger and disaster relief but so far I have not seen a lot of clear cut examples of this. Some other recent coins are straight up scams. Invisible teams, huge premimes and little to no documentation on whitepapers, roadmap, etc. Combine these with poor branding and it's hard to find any value in these coins.
Now, I am a designer and you could call me a branding "expert" if you wanted. I'm also American, so when I first saw Zest, and that green color, I immediately thought of the soap. Branding is more important than most people realize and I was quick to dismiss ZestCoin due to what I consider to be C level branding. I'm glad I looked into it further because once I got past the branding issues there was lots to like. How about a fully transparent team for starters:
That's a huge plus. Even if a coin is a privacy coin, it's important to know who's behind it.
It's also good to know that ZestCoin will have dedicated pools to assist in disaster relief, education, athletics and prosperity. Any effort to assist in these areas is great, but with ZestCoin it is actually a core part of the plan.
Zest also seeks to solve many of the issues with Proof of Stake coins today. They looked at the problems, like unsustainable rewards, coin dilution, transparency of fund allocation and inflation and reverse engineered Zest in order to avoid these problems. Zest allocates 80% of the rewards to the masternodes, 15% to staking and 5% to the Zest Foundation.
Here's the technical specs:
Want to get some Zest? Well, you can buy some on Cryptopia or CoinExchange but there is also a really good contest and bounty program. Also, they are on the new staking pool Stakecube.net where you can stake Zest and other coins. More info:
