What's going on: Ethereum is back with a vengeance: While different dramas surrounding Bitcoin got most of the attention in the last couple of months, ETH is not only still number two regarding market capitalization, it's blockchain is processing more daily transaction than all other cryptocurrencies COMBINED (!).

These are definitely good news for Ethereum, that has one of the strongest teams and crypto-wizkid Vitalik Buterin behind it. And while everyone is talking of Bitcoin, we tend to forget that Ethereum started at around 8 US-Dollar in the beginning of 2017 and has since gained mind bending 4800%. Now it looks like it could break the 400 US-Dollar barrier and could sail to new all-time-highs.
Why should I care: It's pretty clear by now that Bitcoin is in fact digital gold and will most likely stay the speartip of cryptos. But the second most interesting crypto is definitely Ethereum, that is not only a store of value, but also a technology wise impressive platform for decentralized applications and the go-to blockchain for most ICOs. Vitalik Buterin and his team are working hard to solve Ethereum's scaling problems through an innovative "sharding"-technique, that should enable a faster development progression. They are also planing to switch to a new proof-of-stake protocol, which would make Ethereum more environmentally friendly and and at least a cheaper blockchain than it is now. With this in mind I think Ethereum is not only one of the most interesting and strongest cryptocurrencies, it's probably also quite undervalued.

Bitshares & Steem...?
They are not explicitly mentioned, but I think it's mainly because of the different nature of Ethereum's network ... it's basically made to move actively and more or less all the time, while other digital assets have lower activity or are rarely moved.
