What does God say about Bitcoin?

We all know that the computer was not around in biblical times. The Bible does not have a lot to say about Bitcoin directly. What though do we know about God in the Bible that is applicable to Bitcoin?

God hates liars.

God hates Cheats

Bitcoin is about honesty.

Bitcoin is about integrity.

God ways are not man’s ways.

We will all be judged at the end of time.

While it does not seem to be popular to talk about it these days, we all know we are going to die. Our time on this earth varies, but is typically limited to 80 to 100 years. Then we die and at Judgement day will be judged for our actions and will have an eternity in Heaven or Hell.

As Christians and followers of Christ, we try to live in love and peace with our fellow man sharing this redeeming love with the world, sometimes we do better than at other times. How does Bitcoin fit into this plan?

We all know that God hates liars and God hates cheats. There are many creative names for cheating such as cooking the books, fudging the numbers, swindle, fraud, con man, finagle, pull a fast one, bilk or hookwink. God does not like any of these. Bitcoin and blockchain have a build in honesty system that makes it very difficult, almost impossible to directly cook the books. When data is put in the blockchain it is “immutable.” To say data is “immutable” means it is unchangeable and set and cannot be altered. While this alone does not make it perfect, it has huge benefits for accounting.

For the most part, America (and the west) has an honest accounting system; but that cannot be said for all the rest of the world. Embezzlement, cheating and it’s consequences have a lot to do with why some countries, like Honduras and much of Africa, have struggled. This subject is worthy of multiple books; but blockchain and bitcoin have the ability to stop this through open record keeping and audit-able blockchains. This is good.

Oh what a fun article. And how ironic, I will admit, that something with so much potential to do good, is used so frequently for bad. (That so many of the blockchain projects are scams...
)

While BitCoin claims transparency and openness, it fails to deliver. This tool is used for more bad than for good. In this post I clearly laid out some ideas... BitCoin is about honesty and integrity. Well I am having second thoughts on that. I am seeing massive failure to deliver in those areas. If you reverse the sentiment that Bitcoin is about dishonesty and stealing, then God is clearly against it. BitCoin is ultimately like a hammer, something that can be used for Good or Bad. Which it is going to be used for and who is going to use it for that is a complicated question.
