How To Register Your EOS Address To Allow Deposits Before The EOS ICO Ends June 1st, 2018

I woke up today with a strange message appearing in my Exodus wallet...
You can see in the top right it says I need to register my address. There is a link attached to the message.
The link brings you to a tutorial on the Exodus.io official website.
Why Do You Need To Register Your EOS Address Now?
The EOS ICO ends June 1st, 2018, and by that time all EOS ERC20 tokens will need to be registered with EOS in order to claim the future EOS Blockchain tokens.

Since Exodus updated to version 1.48.0, the registration of your EOS address may be done from within Exodus. With other wallets, you would have to export your private keys and visit the EOS website.
With Exodus, it is just a few clicks away and I will guide you safely through this process in this article.
Step 1: Ensure You Are Not Already Registered
Make sure you can clearly read "Address Not Registered" in the top right.
You will also see the same message when you attempt to receive EOS tokens.

Step 2: Enter The Help Menu In Exodus

If you have claimed BTG or BCH (BTC forks) from Exodus before this process is very similar. Scroll down and click on the entry which is named EOS registration.

Step 3: Click The Big Green Button
After you click the green button a dialogue will ask you to confirm your registration. You have to have a small balance of ETH to pay for the registration process - I only had to pay 0.000271674 ETH to confirm my EOS address.

The reason for the payment is because registering your EOS adress will access a smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain. Accessing smart contracts within Ethereum's blockchain requires a miner fee.
Step 4: Verify Your Registration By Viewing Your TX
After confirmation, Exodus will handle the entire registration in the background and your EOS address will finally be registered! After this you are brought to the final dialogue and you will be shown the Transaction ID of your registration which is easily verified by clicking "View TX".

That's It!
It is a good idea to check you are properly verified by checking your EOS receiving address one last time.

To read more about the EOS transition, read the additional information provided on Exodus.io's tutorial.

I'm curious how it provides the Exodus user with a public/private key pair for accessing their EOS once the EOS chain begins. Did it instruct you concerning a private key?
Im asking the same question.. Im using Metamask and as far i know, registering is only possible on the eos/distribution site. Since it involves two completely different blockchain of which one doesnt even have its mainnet up yet.
I could be totally wrong too though. In any case this post has been a good reminder to have my address registered before the launch.
I registered mine manually on Exodus and then also on MEW. There was a link to a public/private key generator that I associated with my ETH address during the registration process.
So I have possession of a private key to access my public EOS address when it goes live.
I just have questions about this automated process concerning how a private key is obtained.
meaning there's potential risk Exodus might get a peek of the keys?
Sorry bout the late response, I was not told anything about a new key, it only said it will handle it all within Exodus.
This means the exodus application will handle all the keys from within exodus.
You will have to either read the tutorial yourself or read info from eos.io's website.
If I don't see a prompt to register my address on exodus is it safe to assume I am? Or is this only applicable to those who have over 100? I apologize if I'm asking dumb questions, I'm just new to this. Thanks for help.
If you do not see the above message you are already registered, end of story. The only way I can see an exception is if your exodus wallet is out of date. It is not only for people with over 100, I had less than 100 when I registered my address.
Okay, thank for your help! I am now registered thanks to you! Turns out you were right about me not having the latest exodus update and once I did the message of me NOT being registered showed up. So, if anyone else is reading this, know that you'll have to have the latest edition or the prompt message won't show up at all.
Awesome, I had a feeling you were out of date.
Good luck trading and Steeming!
Thanks :) Funny you knew.
Thank you for this information! I knew the deadline was coming soon and I wasn't excited to go figure it all out.
It's definitely worth doing the diligence to understand what's going on as not to miss out on an excellent opportunity. What I learned in this post will definitely make for a more efficient and pleasurable experience with the process!
Keep On Steemin On!
Thank you. I am very glad that you have enjoyed learning from my tutorial.
You too @castleberry, Steem on!
Thanks for responding! As simple as your tutorial made it... I still forgot to get it done! Your response was the kick in my pants to make it happen!

It would have felt that way if I had forgot! hahaha
Whelp! Metamask user here, its off the the website then.. But thanks for the reminder!! June 1st is coming in no time at all!!
I'm not sure about Metamask, you will have to figure that out yourself!
Good luck!
