I think that as prices are rising. The average Joe will be more likely to jump in. (because fomo).
And also the mainstream media doens't really give a good image about the state of the technology.
They mostly state that their are isues with trust, and that it isn't real money. But I haven't seen them talk about the technological problems/challenges of BTC. Like it's energy consumption. And how that will play out in the long term.
If the average reporter doesn't understand the technological challenges. Than BTC will be mentioned more positively in the news than it should. Which gets the new folks in.
The technology will reach the mainstream population even with the limitation of Bitcoin face actually or the Ethereum congestion caused by Cryptokitties ;). The blockchain will change the face of many industries and create value and save money in the long run.
