Likewise, when Satoshi Nakamoto first published the Bitcoin whitepaper, he could not have expected that his innovative distributed data store and consensus algorithm would one day gain widespread adoption, not so much for his namesake cryptocurrency, but for an unassuming smart contract standard that allows the certification and distribution of unique assets, better known as NFT. Indeed the success of these seemingly mundane innovations provides great insight into humanity. People care about freedom and the ability to share our ideas freely. People care about creativity, without which new ideas cannot form or spread. And people care about trust: the connective tissue of society and culture.

Freedom is antithetical to central power. From the earliest days, our lands' kings have always tried to control our bodies, restrict our souls, and bind our minds to indigent ignorance. Creativity and innovation threaten the powerful because every time we think creatively we reimagine the world and all it could become. That is, in essence, the awesome responsibility of an artist.

But artists must be empowered to express themselves; they must be given the right tools. We took this task on and reengineered a new world from the rubbles of the past. We imagined a world with no obstacles that stand between innovators and their innovations, or between artists and their audience. We envisioned creatives expressing themselves freely in an open, free, harmonious dialectic between society, culture, and technology.

The Cherry Project

Liberating artists from the constraints of the status quo is an ambitious but necessary goal. This is Cherry's Vision; to create radical tools and solutions for creators to control how they express their art. Fundamentally, this is about economics and culture, crossing the chasm to a new arrangement where creators speak their art directly to their fans in ways that haven't been imagined yet.

Introducing culture's infrastructure

Cherry is a fully decentralized infrastructure for creators to produce and share art and innovate new ways to reach their communities. Creators take full control of their artistic enterprise from intellectual property protection to fundraising to monetization.

Cherry includes an innovative blockchain platform linking innovators with a community of other innovators. It allows artists to sell their creations, share their thoughts, and finance their projects. The platform is optimized for media exchange and transactions, creating a space for artists to be creative and earn.

Cherry Chain

At the heart of the Cherry Project is the Cherry Chain. This is a layer one blockchain network tailor-made for media operations, with 100,000 tps throughput and sub-second latency; a production-ready infrastructure that underpins every decentralized application the Cherry Community develops. This is a blockchain purpose-built for the Cherry Community.

"Cherry Originals" are Cherry's take on NFTs, extending the original standard with new features, natively supporting any media type from music to holograms. Identity smart contracts can verify cryptographic identities and associate them with physical people or organizations. Base layer media processing also opens up a whole new DeFi ecosystem where artists can collateralize their Originals for loans, tokenize their artistic enterprise, and access financing for their projects.

This is only a glimpse into what we've called the Cherry Ecosystem, the collection of applications and use cases the Cherry Chain will host. It features state-of-the-art cryptography, on-chain upgradability, allows transmission of data free from intermediaries, and uses a lightweight proof-of-stake consensus algorithm. While we believe the Cherry Chain will become the blockchain of choice for the arts, it boasts full EVM compatibility allowing for bridged interoperability across the leading smart contract platforms across the blockchain ecosystem.
