VPN Provider PRIVATIX Combines Uber, Tor, Blockchain to Help You Make Money
If you’re not using your Internet connection, you can simply sell it
People use VPN services for a variety of reasons. It may be to watch certain restricted content on streaming services, which is only available to people in a certain location. It may be to provide more security and anonymity when surfing the general web. It may be to avoid authorities, when downloading peer to peer content on torrent sites or magnet links on downloading programs. Yet, for those who wish to subscribe to a VPN service for their Internet uses, there is still not a really affordable option, especially one which doesn’t sell its user data and one which actually provides full anonymity.
The CEO of VPN provider Privatix Limited, and the temporary email service Temp-Mail, Dima Rusakov, confirms that these are crucial issues for the VPN market. Privatix’ VPN service boasts 750,000 users, and their temporary email service has 250,000 visitors daily. Now, Privatix Limited wishes to build a decentralized P2P VPN on Blockchain, and doing so will change the VPN, CDN and cybersecurity industries.
To further this, Privatix is having an ICO in October, and its presale starts Sept. 14. It aims to create the largest idle bandwidth marketplace. The idea is to utilize people’s bandwidth connections, at times when they are asleep, out at school or work, or elsewhere. At such times, the bandwidth is still available and paid for, despite not being actively used by the subscriber. Internet hosting services and businesses also have unused connections at various times. Privatix allows for the selling of this unused capacity with a few clicks and no risks — benefitting both those who’d like to earn some extra money, and those seeking bandwidth.
Blockchain-based solution
People can now earn money on their idle bandwidth connection by selling it, to those who wish to bypass restrictions and buy it. Unused bandwidth is in high demand, as well as a potentially huge supply available in the form of all Internet users worldwide. At the same time, there is no solution that would allow buying and selling broadband at prices that satisfy both sides.
Yet, building Blockchain-based peer-to-peer VPN’s means developing business solutions over the long-term. This includes hosting services to sell unused server capacity, thus enlarging the market and attracting bigger players, for example the Content Delivery Network industry, which would benefit from improved availability and load speeds. A disadvantage of existing centralized VPNs is that sometimes, usage of VPNs can be detected by DPI-based blockers, for instance Netflix is known for this, and users are still not able to get access. Such blockers are used in the well-known Great Firewall of China, also.
Privatix resolves this issue by using a DPI-free protocol, meaning it’s harder to detect and grants more freedom. It could also become a basis for anti-censorship solutions for app developers, to prevent apps being blocked, or an alternative approach to monetizing such apps. By doing so, app owners gain traffic and Privatix gets idle bandwidth from users who have the apps installed. The company will provide Mobile Software Development Kit, which can be integrated into any app and will introduce features seamlessly.
Bolstering the crypto-economy
The creation of an internal crypto-economy is straightforward: Agents sell bandwidth to clients for a crypto token named PRIX. The market will be operated with this crypto token. The higher the demand for bandwidth, the more attractive the market is for the agents, making their services more expensive. The higher the supply for the bandwidth is, more clients are attracted to the market who want to buy cheap capacity.
Misuse of capacity may become an issue for exit nodes. Presently, the company is working on developing some solutions for legal issues, while suggesting that responsibility should be shifted from agents to their company and legal help, in case of emergency. This solution is not final by any means, but is still better than what is currently offered in the market.
ICO and team plans
The Privatix team is comprised of coders and entrepreneurs with a background in tech. CEO and co-founder Rusakov has run other companies such as 5vpn and Temp-Mail for six years already, and he along with the rest of the team have promised to sell their other businesses to focus solely on the Blockchain-based project.
The pre-ICO is held on Sept. 14 and aims to sell three percent of the PRIX. With each purchased PRIX, Privatix gives a 60 percent bonus, so that buyers receive 1.6 PRIX for each 1 PRIX bought in the pre-ICO.
The ICO itself starts on Oct. 19, for four weeks. Seven percent of the tokens are reserved for employees and founders, who cannot sell them within a year, in order to guarantee focus and dedication to the project.
Once the ICO is over, Privatix will work on cross-platform software and Privatix Network development, which has a deadline of a final release in the second quarter of 2019. Then, by 2020’s end, Privatix will introduce a developed CDN which will be based on the Privatix Network.
