Steemit is a little like a faucet
Steemit is such a versatile cryptocurrency.
I have only really become seriously interested in cryptocurrency in the last couple of months (as have many others I suspect), and have started with Bitcoins and bought a variety of others while learning all the time, and then I discovered Steem and Steemit.com.
I love the concept of Steemit, you can simply speculate and not participate if you want to, but obviously there is so much more.
Just by curating a few post per day, Steemit is a bit like a faucet available for other cryptocurrencies, giving you a trickle of extra Steem slowly over time.
By adding value and posting, there seems to be great potential earnings, by building up an audience and reputation and sharing interesting and amazing information.
So, I am happy to keep adding more into Steemit, by buying Steem and powering up, curating and making new posts.

Its not like a Faucet ... A faucet pays small amount for completing a simple task ( most time a captcha). Steemit pays a big amount for doing hard work ( creating good content).
You are right of course, I am mainly referring to curation side, however even curation can provide much more than a faucet and is so much more interesting that answering captchas.
My experience in the first month however has been a small trickle of funds similar, but much more entertaining to a faucet
I earned ~60$ my first month , that would have never been possible with faucets. But well i m not saying faucets are bad ... if you would have done faucets a few years ago , you could now be rich :)
Maybe bitcoin will reach 1M$ in a few years and doing faucets is not so bad today. The best one: Moon bitcoin
