WildSpark BETA by Synereo Launching Tomorrow (My Thoughts)

I first found out about Synereo here on Steemit and I have loosely followed this project because it was being pitched as an alternative content platform that was blockchain based.  Why not spread the @brianphobos name to other platforms and earn everywhere right?  There seems to have been a lot of drama with this platform overtime.  There was a lot of infighting it seemed and the project in a lot of ways seemed to never get anywhere or wasn't getting there very fast.   They had launched their Alpha version which they were calling it Qrator basically meaning curator of content like we do here on Steemit when we upvote a post that we like.   They ended up just changing the name to WildSpark about 8 days ago and will be launching the BETA version tomorrow.   I have signed up to be a BETA tester at  www.WildSpark.me You can sign up as well if you want.  Here is a little Gif of the application in action.  It is basically a Chrome extension you install.

Initial Thoughts At That Point

Well I think it is was smart to change the name to WildSpark.  That is easier to remember and to spell.   To be honest I was initially disappointed to find out that their content platform isn't going to launch.  That it is just this initial application to curate content that is out on other platforms already.  There are a lot of questions I have about it as well which I will go into later in the post.

Here Is The Promotional Video They Released

It was a good video from a production standpoint but it left a lot of questions in my mind.   I tried to look around YouTube to see if any of the Alpha testers had posted anything.  There was hardly anything out there except an extremely crappy video posted by a guy who was shaking the camera and filming his computer screen while mumbling.

One thing I think they did in the video that was smart was showing the money flow of AMPs in a sideways flow like this.

If they should have shown it as a bottom up flow like this then immediately people would think it was an MLM Pyramid Scheme.

If people perceive it to be and MLM it will drive a lot of people away.  They will look at it like this.  They should be looking at BitConnect this same way.

Questions About The Platform

  1. To start are you going to have to put money into it?   If you have to bring AMPs to the table I feel it will have an extremely hard time.  One of the things I said when I joined Steemit was that if I can't get on and make money creating content then it won't work.  I never brought any money here from the outside and it has worked.
  2. If you AMP someone's content up how is that content creator going to be notified?  It is acting like you could be on any platform and AMP up someone's post.  How is it going to notify someone if that was some meme that was posted online.  Plus it could be something that has been taken from the original creator.
  3. If you place the unique WildSpark link somewhere and someone clicks on it will they have to buy AMP's so that you and the creator can get paid?   If so it would seem that the chain would end right at that point because they aren't going to jump through all the hoops to buy AMPs to reward the original creator.

What Happened To The Content Creation Platform?

Honestly it was a big let down to realize that this isn't going to be its own platform right now.  That part doesn't make sense to me.  Here is what they said in their blog in April.

After establishing a solid network, built on top of popular, existing Internet destinations, Qrator will also function through a distributed content delivery network, allowing users to directly upload content to the Synereo CDN, bypassing providers like YouTube and their centralized servers entirely. With this, the independent decentralized social network, adhering to Synereo’s Attention Economy model, owned & operated by its users, will become a reality.

So I don't see the value add at this time in a lot of ways.  This would make a ton of sense if the content was being put on their own blockchain / platform and they were driving people to that content.  Just going around tipping random people who might know nothing about crypto currencies doesn't seem like a sound model.  Now they are saying Synereo CDN will come out at a later date where content creators can put their own content on there.

What would have made more sense is for Synereo CDN to be out there first so that content creators could post stuff and then you have this WildSpark application where people could then try to drive traffic over to the Synereo CDN and if someone followed the WildSpark link they could automatically get a certain amount of AMPs if they joined the network.  Then the more people they potentially drove to the platform they would get more AMPs and it would keep building.

Conclusion

I'm not trying to sound like a Steemit fan boy over here but it is still pretty clear to me that the Steemit Platform is light years ahead of these other projects.  Steemit is improving and has a ways to go but with this WildSpark app it is sort of like testing a small piece of the ecosystem before the actual platform is build.  Let's start putting the windows in the house before the foundation is even there. Hmmmm

There are still a lot of things I don't know until hopefully I get an e-mail tomorrow to be let into the BETA testing.  Once I know more I will let you guys know!

Thank you for reading my post and please consider following me @brianphobos

followed and upvoted! I heard about this, so thanks for sharing. Going to do some more research now!

Thanks! It is hard to find a lot on the subject but it is a project that we are all interested in.

I signed up a long time ago to be part of the Alpha testing but it was like they had an extremely small group of people testing it. Like they wanted to keep it a secret or something. I don't think anyone on Steemit ended up being an Alpha tester which makes no sense what so over. I mean wouldn't you want people who have lived through issues on here to have input in their product that is in the same category? It all doesn't make sense in a lot of ways.

Thank's information friend

I registered and tried to see the beta but gave up. I tried and was not able to get into Wild Spark and it does not look interesting and I don't understand how to use it.

Agreed and it seems they will not really do as good as Steemit.

I just don't see how they could do as good as Steemit until they would have a fully functioning platform that they could drive traffic to with original content on it.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who were involved in the project from the beginning that are really disappointed in the progress.

Great post I will check it out

Cool. Hopefully we get emails letting us into the BETA tomorrow but who knows.

Hi~ i am korean~thank you for good imformation~ i expectnext your story /information~

Makes more research and make a new post for this if you find some information about it we will be waiting for it

I sunk some money into AMP just before their crowdsale last summer. I bought off exchanges and got a fairly good price.

Since then it has been up & down, sinking really low at one point. I was always going to hodl for a while, to see how the project played out, and I'm glad I did, as I am now in profit.

However, I still have reservations about the project. It could work, but they seem to have scaled back their ambitions massively, perhaps realising that what they initially wanted to offer was not viable with their original timeframe.

You raise lots of good points about how this platform will work in practice, and it does seem pretty complicated (even for people like me who have done due diligence!)

As a final note, I was disappointed their CTO jumped ship early on in the project. It was probably a good thing they parted ways, but the project was much more ambitious in its early days, with a focus on a creating a new programming language called Rholang. This is what interested me in the project in the project in the first place!

yeah it totally blows my mind how ambitious it was and hearing people last year on here talk about it and some people saying how they have been in Google Hangouts and all kinds of meetings for a year even at that point and the platform would never come to be. Then to look into it again now and trying to find information on it..... I'm sort of disappointed.

Then having the curation tool come before the platform just feels like putting the wagon before the horse. I hope I'm wrong and once I look at it things will make more sense but as of right now it is hard for me to imagine it is going to work unless they have their own content creation platform and people are driving traffic to it.

Good work on being up on it financially. Tomorrow could be a big day if the release the BETA.

I don't know, I signed up too, same situation as you, I heard about it here on steem like 8 months ago and have seen every so often they sortof make some kind of launch? I don't buy it yet, and to hear that it is not even a full platform that they are launching? Seriously? Also, from what I understand you DO have to purchase AMPs to be able to use it, which is a MASSIVE turn off for people who don't yet know anything about crypto.

Interesting stuff, keep me informed.

I will see if I get an email. I haven't gotten anything yet!
