What Does Ethereum Have Planned Next
Vitalik Buterin co founder of Ethereum has laid out the roadmap for what Ethereum 2.0 has in store for us all. Here is a recap and breakdown of what we should expect.
The four areas which are on the radar to be addressed are...
- Privacy
- Consensus Safety
- Smart contract safety
- Scalability
Privacy is being address by zk-SNARKs and further advancement will be made in this area.
Consensus safety is addressed via a recent update named Casper
Smart Contract Safety is being address by Viper
However the elephant in the room for Ethereum and any cryptocurrency right now is scaling.
To Vitalik this is shown as addressing all matters on chain and allowing for thousands of transactions per second and not include any super nodes. This seems to only be possible via sharding or allowing side chains where protocol changes can be upgraded and keep the main chain in tact. What's also eye opening about this is this is exactly the path Bitcoin seems to be choosing as well. However the big diffrence from Ethereum to Bitcoin is Ethereum will and must change over to a proof of stake instead of a proof of work.
This roadmap is currently foreseen in the next 3-5 years however Vitalik says we will see major improvements in the next year.

I think over time ethereum will close the gap with bitcoin
I just bought few unit of ether because I strongly believe it's value will keep increasing every day. Good luck and all the best to those who invest in Ethereum!
Well ETH is a second crypto not without a reason :D Hopefully the gap between it and Bitcoin will get smaller overtime
The architecture of Etherium is very similar to Bitcoin structure since they have a common record to record all transactions
