This is not a Bitshares token; it's native to Steem. There is no block explorer yet, but you can pay 1 token to check your balance by sending some to yourself just like I did above.

The Bitshares gateway is @virtualgrowth's project, he should be able to answer. But the answer is basically "not instantly."
