RE: IOTA in position to rocket to the moon in 2018
OK great Michelle
Here is a link to a youtuber who shows you how to install an IOTA -
I think it is for the light wallet but Im not sure - the host is a funny guy who basically makes vlogs for crypto beginners so it is easy to follow, he is really good actually.
I think you will find it helpful.
Peronally I like the light wallet because you get the seed. This is invaluable because if your mac goes down and you lose all your data, as long as you have the seed sentence, you can still get all your funds back. It gives a great sense of security. I had a "core" wallet with DASH (no seed) a while back and my macbook went down and I lost all the data. I had not backed up the wallet and I lost all the dash coins -I still own some dash bit those I lost are gone forever - they are worth about $3000 today - ouch!
Hard lesson learned.
Good question about the Exodus wallet - I will ask the IOTA team about that . I know a guy who is on the team. I will get back to you on that one.
Oh thanks Arthur, what a star, video and all! Most helpful! :)
I've watched and decided I will leave it until the morning now, not sure I've downloaded the right version so will start a fresh!
Thanks for the info about needing to choose the 'seed' version', most important and so sorry to hear you lost all your dash $3000 ouch, yes!
I watched a video about security done by someone who had his mac stolen and lost several bitcoins that he'd bought very early on - also ouch!
I do find being in control of the seeds a bit freaky! I guess we're so used to thinking banks etc are looking after our money for us!!
It would be wonderful if IOTA was accepted on Exodus, thanks for checking it out. :)
Very wise to wait Michelle - If you need any more help dont hesitate to ask -
Thanks Arthur, most appreciated. If I get stuck I'll be back! :)
Success!! I couldn't face going there yesterday, and probably wise not to on halloween!
The newest version didn't give a seed, so I did have to go back to the version stated in the video to get a seed and then update, so great to have the video and that information.
I transferred from Bitfinex to the IOTA wallet and all done ok!
I also emailed Exodus about adding IOTA coin to their wallet and got this reply, so hoping they do add it in the future!
"IOTA is indeed an incredibly cool technology, and it's very different from other cryptocurrencies. We'd really love to be able to add it, but unfortunately it's due to this wildly different technology (tangle vs blockchain) that it would be very difficult to integrate seamlessly into Exodus.
For now, IOTA is listed on our roadmap as 'not planned', but that could still change in the future if more development tools become available. To stay up to date, check out our roadmap:
http://support.exodus.io/article/96-exodus-wallet-roadmap
I'm sorry that I couldn't bring you good news here, but I hope this at least explains our position!"
Thanks again for your help with this Arthur, I wouldn't have purchased any IOTA if I hadn't seen your blog posts! :)
That´s great news Michelle, I dont think you will regret buying IOTA - it is going places for sure.
You got it at a good price too as it is going down due to the Bitcoin Segwit palava. Once this Bitcoin nonsense is over the markets will settle down and we will begin to see positive movements in alt coins.
I expect to see a significant rise in IOTA during the first few months of 2018.
It does not surpise me that Exodus will, or can not, host IOTA.
The mathematics involved for "changing" the money is astronomical. Tangle and Blockchain are just too different worlds.
However, I would not be surprised if someone comes up with a solution.
I also heard a rumour that IOTA themselves were against having IOTA on Exodus because they suspect Govt involvement.
This is a suspicion many have it seems.
Apparently it is suspected - that during the "changing" process from one coin to another - it is recorded somewhere - in order for Governments to see how much crypto money is being bought/sold and stored. I have not heard of this until I did some research on this on your behalf. It seems that it is a bit of a conspiracy theory at the moment and I am not sure what the Govt could do about it anyway.
Crypto currency enthusiasts are fierce about privacy so it could be just paranoia, but as they say, there is no smoke without fire.
Well at least your IOTA is safe and is hidden away from prying eyes.
Thanks for keeping me up to date.
Thanks Arthur, I'm really pleased with my IOTA and I'm sure I will continue to be pleased! :)
I've not really checked into this segwit, I suppose I should! But bitcoin is going up a lot, so that has to be good!
Yes Exodus were saying that Tangle and blockchain are very different. I can't say I understand Tangle yet, and bought on your enthusiasm and because it felt good! I will get my head around it at some point!
Wow, Govt involvement in Exodus, not heard that. That must be so of all exchanges then if they're doing that? But exchanges need you to sign up with details and I'm pretty sure no details were needed for Exodus to open a wallet. Interesting, and I'm sure Govts are wanting to hijack cryptocurrency, so nothing would surprise me here. Thanks for doing some research on this, most appreciated. We will see what unfolds.
You're welcome and thanks for your research and help.
Dont be surprised and dont worry if IOTA fluctuate between 0.42 and 0.35 - if it goes lower than that I would be very surprised. I watch the markets everyday and I have notice that the resistance level is about 0.36 - this is a good sign that investors will fight to keep the price no lower than that.
For example today it went down to 0.35 and then it quickly moved up again. investors buy more seeing it as a bargain - I bought some more myself.
I really wish I had done that with steem when I started last Dec 2016 - steem went down from 50 cents to 8 cents at one time and people thought steemit was going to collapse.
I believed in the whole steemit idea and so I stuck with it and bought $200 dollars worth. It does not sound so much these days because of the hight prices of alt coins have risen too, but back then no one knew if the alt coin world would even survive another year. So to put $200 dollars was actually a leap of faith.
Steemit has now well and truly past the danger stage and will go on to flourish. As its members grow so will the price of steem. The steem blockchain has big plans and many believe the price of steem will rise to about $10 within one year. I think that is a good estimate. That is why there is talk of how many millionaires steemit is going to create.
With regards t Segwit - this is actually a bi scary - it is not the same as the last fork with bitcoin gold - the whole think could get messy. I think they may have messed with the code a bit to many times for my liking and I have a strong feeling that things are going to change for Bitcoin.
Dont worry it will not crash. It will fall though and I think that Bitcoin cash will rise much higher. However, I think the whole situation will end up being good for alt coins - IOTA in particular will begin to look strong.
IOTA is set - meaning there can be NO hard forks - its code is clean and fixed The guys at IOTA tested it for over a year before releasing it. Its a thing of beauty for sure and such quality can not help but shine out and stand for itself. They can improve things though and what they need are guys who can make the wallet idiot proof so that even your grandmother can use it. This is the key to success I am certain and I have told them this. The problem with programmers is that they cant see why ordinary folk find it difficult ha ha. Its easy for them so they think it must be easy ha ha. Steemit programers have now realised this and I am glad to see they are doing a great job. You see what people dont realise is that to make apps/websites etc that can run on a blockchain needed an entirely new way of programming. If steemit was on on a server like Facebook or google then they could easily make the most fantastic user interface that looked and word like Facebook. However, there are very few programmers out there who can write code for blockchain technology. At the moment that are like gold and highly sort after. Steemit is actually one of the few things ever invented to run a blockchain. It is a masterpiece of digital engineering. When people, I mean investors actually realise this, then Steemit and the steem blockchain will explode. It is only a matter of time. It really is early days - we, you and I, and all those who signed up for steemit will be seen as pioneer users in the future.
Sorry I got diverted then lol - typical me that - about segwit - I am currently looking into this to see what is the best way to deal with the situation. We have some time so there is no panic and I will keep my followers informed.
In the mean time keep blogging : )
PS sorry I went on a bit too long
Thanks Arthur for your reply and all the information you’ve shared with me, so kind of you.
Yes I know that crypto does fluctuate and it’s about the long term and just chilling! I’ve trained myself to check Bitcoin price daily, but haven’t really bothered with the other coins, which I probably should as I’ve bought a few, finance is just not my thing, so it’s pretty amazing I’m investing in crypto, especially with all the technology to do it, which also is not my thing!!
I agree buying when low is wise. I will try and remember to keep an eye on the price and be more aware! As for you wishing you had bought more Steemit last year, well we all think that afterwards, especially with bitcoin, but I do think we’re still very early birds compared to the whole population.
Great that Steem is out of the danger zone, yes I do believe it will grow and do really well too.
Oh wow, I will have to check out this segwit then, and do energy work on it. Good to hear that IOTA won’t have hard forks! I totally agree with the ‘so easy your grandmother can use it!’ Developers just don’t get that hearing words like node, blocks, code just send some people into a spin and they run a mile! Blockchain developing does need to take this on, like with Steemit, I mean is it really that hard is it to add a centre button for images along with the other buttons? Everyone keeps telling you how to use code to do it, but my computer freezes whenever I go into the html tab and then I can’t get out!! The more they make it easy, wallets, exchanges the lot, the more people will come on board. It’s like the developers want us all to speak and learn developers language, well we are all unique and that’s unlikely to happen, I mean not everyone speaks English as their first language so expecting them to code in English is a bit of a tall order!
I love that you just flow what’s on your mind, I tend to do the same! Wonderful you’re checking out segwit and will post about it, thanks!
Yes I’ll keep blogging, you too! :)

Unfortunately I couldn't install IOTA wallet. Windows 32 bit not supported :( What can I do now?
