The metaphor for the bull and bear are commonly used in stock exchange as the positive and negative movements for the value of a specific stock or the market in general. It could be seen as the capitalist bull fighting the communist bear but these days it can easily also translate to be the battle between new and old money - as in crypto vs. fiat currency. The graph in the piece is a recent actual Bitcoin curve. You could also imagine the golden paint nuggets as the bull pushing the new coin up the curve.
