Decentralised exchanges and obtaining Steem.

Cryptocurrency was meant to provide financial freedom and it is well on its way to doing that but one hurdle it must overcome is taking power away from all the centralised exchanges like Coinbase and others, which are profiting handsomely from their never ending cycle of fees for this - fee's for that. I understand that sites like Coinbase are helping to bring crypto to the masses and they make their site simple to use, but the whole process of encouraging normal people into the crypto sphere, is dampened by the amount of hoops you have to jump through just to get verified by a centralised exchange, then there is the fee's by way of the markup on the coins to consider (when buying or selling) and then miners fees for sending your crypto off the exchange. In view of all this, the first person or persons who gets a peer to peer decentralised exchange up and running, where you can buy any alt-coins with fiat currency, is going to be very rich indeed. You shouldn't have to have the rigmarole of having to change your currency of choice (GBP) to Euro's, before transferring it to the exchange, then waiting for your funds to arrive before buying Bitcoin (incurring fees) before sending it to an exchange like Binance (incurring more fees) before exchanging Bitcoin to your preferred alt-coin, probably incurring more losses by way of the spread or taker fee's then sending your alts to your wallet (yet more fees). Then there is the question of privacy, because you are being forced to give over your I.D and all your info to these exchanges. Yet another security risk. Who knows what they do with your private information. They could well sell it on to Corporations' and release data of your trades' to Government department's.

If one could simply go to a decentralised exchange and buy Steem with British pounds, US dollars or Euro's, without getting hit for every fee going and having to go through such a lengthy acquisition, wouldn't that be a grand thing? I guess we will get there in time, but if we are to grow the Steemit blockchain and encourage everyday Mum's and Dad's into the beautiful world of Steemit and cryptocurrency in general; then we have to make it easy for all folk's to understand and use, or they will give up before they have started, frightened off by the whole complexity of centralised exchanges and illiquidity. Cryptocurrency is financial freedom. It must be used to benefit all - not make the filthy rich, richer still.
