If you are holding any Bitcoin or Litecoin you need to make sure its safe. Any amount is far too valuable to lose.
In this tutorial, Im gonna tell you about my process of creating paper wallets. This tutorial is similar for Bitcoin as it is for Litecoin.

 
 

Step 1

Go to:
https://www.bitaddress.org/ for Bitcoin or
https://liteaddress.org/ for Litecoin.

 
 

Step 2

Stop for a moment and think. You just clicked on unknown website claiming to create keys for your Bitcoin. How do you know its not a scam? DONT TRUST ANYONE. Google!
Is bitcoinaddress.org safe?

 
 

Step 3

Press Ctrl+S and safe the website to your computer.
 
 

Step 4

Now you have few choices. The main thing is, nobody should be able to see your keys.

 

Choice 1:

Disable your internet connection.

 

Choice 2:

Move this website (file you downloaded) to another computer that was NEVER connected to the internet.

 

Choice 3 (I did this):

Move this website (file you downloaded) to a wiped smartphone.

 
 

Step 5

Make sure you did step 4 and open the website. You should see site like this:

 

• Now move your cursor or type inside the text field until it says 100%. The site will generate your keys now.

• This is your private and public key, if someone gets hold of these, your money is GONE.

 
 

Step 6

Click on "Paper Wallet" button

 
 

Step 7

Follow these steps:

1. Hide fancy art if you want (optional)
2. I recommend generating only 1 address per 1 password.
3. Check BIP38 encrypt checkbox.
   This is ULTRA important. This alows you to have additional security so that only you can take money out of this wallet (key).

Good passwords:

• At least 6 random numbers (not your date of birth or phone number)
• Multiple words: ex. "big yellow elephant with socks"
• Random password you write down on paper and store securely (if you lose it, you lose your money forever).

4 . Tripple check your password for typos and click "Generate".
 

 
 

Step 8

It will take a little while to generate your address. Now I recommend you to screenshot your QR codes and save those screenshots.

 
 

Step 9

Delete your browser history.
Now you can store this wallet whereever you want because your key is protected with password. You can print it or store it on your computer.
Make sure you have multiple backups not just one!

 
 

Send money to your wallet

Just scan your QR code "Load and Verify" with your phone or webcam and it will tell you your public address. Something like this - 1CgcJyWQkjKtB14DcUh8Ro5PLrD48bYuwU

If you want to take your money out of it, google for safe mobile wallet able to "decrypt BIP38 wallet".

 

Don't use same wallet multiple times!!

This wallet should be only for long term storage of your money. If you take it out, you need to type your password making the wallet not safe!

 

Extra tips:

• dont underestimate the security! Be paranoid with your money!
• Try creating Litecoin wallet first, send in some small amount and take it out. Learn how it works before you store more money on it.
