PUREVIDZ : Setting up an IPFS hash to upload movies
PureVidz has definitely taken the internet by storm , the daily traffic has increased tremendously and its only going to be exponential once the marketing and PR starts. What makes www.purevidz.net so amazing is that anyone can upload movies,tv shows and anime for the rest of the community to enjoy. Its easy , its fast and the quality is impeccable.
Tricky part is setting up an IPFS hash to upload movies .
I am going to give a step by step tutorial on setting up an IPFS hash.
Install IPFS. Go to website : https://ipfs.io/docs/getting-started/
Click on Install IPFS now.
Select your Compatible OS . ( I will continue the rest of the tutorial for Windows 64 bit )
After downloading IPFS for your compatible OS , unzip the archive.
Lets say you saved the folder into C: USERS\XYZ and folder name is go-ipfs_v0.4.4_windows-amd64
A)
Open command prompt and change your directory and target it to your folder containing the ipfs.exe file .
After you open command prompt , it should look like this .
C:\Users\XYZ>
= Next , type in the following to change directory: " cd C:\Users\XYZ\Downloads\go-ipfs_v0.4.4_windows-amd64\go-ipfs " and press ENTER.
note : YOU CAN SEE THE PATH OF THE FILE BY RIGHT CLICKING ON ipfs.exe AND SELECTING PROPERTIES. COPY THE PATH AND PUT IT IN FRONT OF " cd " command.
= Run IPFS.exe by typing in " ipfs "
= type " ipfs init " to initialise the ipfs. (this command should give you your ipfs hash and a test function to check whether your ipfs is running successfully.)
= Now you need to run daemon by typing " ipfs daemon "
= if your migratories are outdated , you will be prompted to update them with a ("Y/N") , kindly insert " y " and press enter.
= You will get the message : " success : fs-repo has been migrated to version X. "
{
"swarm listening on/ip4/xyz.x.x.x/tcp/4001"
"API server listening on /ip4/xyz.x.x.x/tcp/5001"
"Gateway server listening on /xyz.x.x.x/tcp/8080"
"Daemon is ready"
}
MINIMISE the command prompt and open your web browser and type in " http://localhost:5001/webui/ "
This should open the webui : frontend of ipfs and you can see the peer id , the peers you are connected to etc.
log on to : www.purevidz.net , register your account , go to manage ---> upload and you are ready to go :)
I will be uploading a tutorial on "how to upload " later.
