Democratizing Internet Security and DDOS protection with Gladius
Not so long ago my friend started a small eating joint. To make his business stand out from the competition he launched a website on which anyone could place an order and he could pick up his order on arrival or have it delivered.
His business model became fairly successful till one a client called and asked him “why his website was not reachable? “ and had he decided to shut shop?
The site was down due to a DDoS attack.
These words came as a great blow to his confidence as an entrepreneur. They also echo the sentiments of doubt and uncertainty that are raised in the heart and mind of your clients when your website is down due to a DDoS attack.
Due to easy availability of DDoS attack tools even unskilled hackers can do damage to a website.
According to the Nexusguard’s Q1 2017 “Threat Report”, DDoS attack frequency has increased by a staggering 380 percent in the first quarter of 2017
Do not fear look at the many DDOS protection solution providers
When there are so many providers having a virtual monopoly of business then why my friend did not buy a DDoS protection for his website? Was he cutting corners?
No look at the pricing model.
Businesses are paying around $5000 (pretty absurd price) and above per month to protect their websites from DDoS attack even though it may never occur!
The whole business of DDoS protection and providing a CDN is high tech and high priced.
For an average Joe running a small business it becomes very difficult to pay that kind of money to get a DDOS protection.
Does it mean we the ordinary people have to live in constant fear of our websites being in constant danger of a DDoS attack?
Not anymore Gladius has come out with an innovative solution.
They plan to give the power to protect websites against DDoS attacks back to the people who use the internet that is you and me. A democratic move I must say :)
How would the Gladius model work?
In the Gladius system of DDoS protection. Any user can install a Gladius desktop application and start giving his spare computing power and bandwidth to the Gladius project.
Gladius Network uses this power to create “Decentralized CDN and DDoS Protection on the Blockchain”.
In this system the pooled nodes will test and let only trusted connections in and filter out the bad connection.
Making Money with Gladius
Those running the Gladius software would be paid Gladius tokens GLA in exchange of their computing resources contributed.
Website owners can buy protection by paying with Gladius tokens.
This gives the power of protection back in the hands of the user and creates a great opportunity to earn money at 2 levels.
One be a part of the Gladius ICO and buy the GLA tokens. These Tokens would be the money used to buy and sell protection and resources in the Gladius network.
Secondly users can contribute to the network by running the Gladius software on their computers.
Buying the tokens at an early stage cheaply gives one the opportunity to either use the tokens to buy protection later or see the tokens grow in value over time as Gladius is bringing a model that would change the pricing model of the DDoS protection & CDN industry.
