I think bitcoin's price rise is because of two main factors
- the fame it has got being the first cryptocurrency
- The massive numbers of new investors/people entrying into crytocurrency market everyday. For the amateur/novice/less-educated investors, wanting to invest in cryptocurrency for the first time "Bitcoin" is synonym of "Cryptocurrency".
Even when I was unaware of cryptocurrency, I remember, I heard the word "Bitcoin" and heard about its popularity and profitability, way before hearing the word "cryptocurrency".
