Google will ban crypto-related ads beginning on June 2018
After Facebook and Twitter, Google will be banning crypto-related ads beginning this June 2018.
"Cryptocurrencies and related content [](including but not limited to initial coin offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets, and cryptocurrency trading advice)" - Google
Undeniably, Google’s aim is to limit its platform of misleading ads or information and also of potential scams from unscrupulous individuals or groups which only aims to get money out of innocent victims’ wallets.
If we take into context this Google’s move then we can safely speculate that legit cryptocurrency companies will also be hurt including also those who have legit cryptocurrency platform, business model or offerings. Those who are planning to start a business into the crypto market will also be hurt even though they have legit offerings for customers.
Online advertising today is undeniably a strong contributor to a business’ success. Without online advertising, crypto companies will have a hard time reaching more customers.
I believe this is also a positive development to those who are legit because their competition to scams and unscrupulous crypto offerings will be lessen if not eradicated entirely, at least in the form of online ads from Google, Facebook and Twitter.
Will this move from Google stop or lessen misleading information about crypto content online if not eradicated entirely? That remains to be seen when June 2018 and beyond comes along.
