New! Mobile Ethereum app: available to download!
Amidst a load of news about Facebook data controversy just now, I went and downloaded the alpha/early access version of the new decentralised STATUS messenger app, just out, from Google Play Store etc.
As it says, 'Status is more than a messenger. Send payments and smart contracts to friends from within chats, and enjoy encrypted messaging by default, using a peer-to-peer protocol that doesn’t rely on centralized servers.'
Eh, what's that again?
Decentralised chat. This Ethereum-based mobile app comes with private messenger features, wallet for sending ETH and STT (test token for now) direct and some sparse Profile options.
I really like the QR 'contact code' for adding someone to your list. V. easy.
Signup:
When you tap in, you'll enter a password and then write down the usual generated words somewhere.
Also, a short 'signing' version of 3 words.
You can start a new chat, group chat or join public chat (or the Status Community:)
More steps into a decentralised mobile world....
You can see the potential, and I'm looking forward to the next dApps to complement all this from these guys.
