eCommerce Platform Shopify - Accepting Cryptocurrency Payments
eCommerce platform shopify is offering alternative payment options for its merchants, and customers. The alternative payment options are Bitpay where you can accept Bitcoin payments. Another one is Coinbase it also is an alternative payment gateway that also accepts Bitcoin. Lastly is GoCoin where you can accept payments in Dogecoin, Litecoin, and Bitcoin.
What is Shopify?
Shopify is an eCommerce platform that allows the user to create and manage an online store. In the admin dashboard you can add products, setup shipping rates, tax rates, receiving payments using different payment gateways such as paypal, visa, mastercard and other payment gateways. So in short it is a platform where you can setup an online store and sell your products. The platform is really great basing on my own experience in using it. You can set an online store in no time with all of the required functionalities on it already.
Setting the Cryptocurrency Payment Gateways on Shopify
- After you have logged in on Shopify go to the Settings page, it can be found on the lower left side of the Dashboard.
- On the Settings page, click on the payments button
- On the Payments Page, you can find the Alternative Payments Box, on the dropdown you can now select the payment options for crypto. Bitpay, Coinbase.

Final thoughts
There are certainly some pros, and cons on using cryptocurrencies as methods of payment mainly because of volatility, but it is great to know that cryptos are already being integrated in these kinds of platforms, providing real world application and uses. Some of the advantage is that the customers can pay for the product in many ways which expands the horizon for your online store. As basing from experience some of the customers in my online store do not buy the product because of their limited payment gateways.
There was also a rumor that Amazon was going to accept Bitcoin as payment. I do not know what happened with that, but that is really exciting news.

I made my first purchase with cypto today. I have been wanting to do it for sometime now. I hope other companies keep adopting the practice.

its great to see more organisation taking up cryptos currencies , this is the future of money, still a long way to go but eventually it will be the place where all money will be headed, amazon was one of the major organization that accepted bitcoin and soon more will follow. welcome to the future
Yes I agree on that it is the future of money. I think Amazon has not yet implemented bitcoin payments it is just a rumor. It definetely is the future it will be a long way, we are the early adapters
