The Currency on Mars Will be Digital

The evolving human species have always ventured. Major globalization on Earth happened primarily in the last couple of hundreds of years, and mostly for economic reasons. Technology meanwhile has advanced greater in the last fifty years than the last thousands of years. Mars is going to be the next major milestone for humans, turning ourselves into a multiplanetary species. Mars provide the raw resources for the economic reasons, the scientific reasons by just being the first planet we settle in outside of Earth, and the fundamental reason, as humans, to discover and ensure the survival of our species.

A Decentralized Monetary System on Mars

Mars is not centralized. To ensure decentralization on Mars, we must not let money become centralized, as money becomes power in every kind of government. By having a decentralized monetary system on Mars, we can still have a government to enforce laws, but consensus and and smart contracts will be key to give people the power.

Why Fiat Would Not Work

Whose country's money will rule supreme at Mars? To a common person, the answer might be British pounds, or American Dollars, but would it make sense to make everyone switch to one country's currency in order to make transactions on Mars feasible? Bitcoin has already been owned, and hopefully used, by people on every country in the world. It is, by practicability and definition, Earth's first global currency if gold is a form of storage of value. We can bring that to Mars with ease. And although I do not believe that Bitcoin, as it is right now, have the scale to rule in the future, I know another form of cryptocurrency eventually can, and will main currency on Mars.

Mars Will Be Advanced

We already have the capability to go to Mars with the technology that we have now in 2018, and it is said we will eventually send men to Mars by 2013. Yet, we are looking for reasons, as if the reason for the survival of our species is not enough. When we eventually do go and colonize mars, we will first have to build small habitats where humans can survive and build an atmosphere. And naturally, as we seen in the last couple of hundreds of years, human naturally globalize in large scales. Mars will eventually be home to millions, if not billions, of people. The technology there will be futuristic even, so futuristic that even the future you will call describe it that way.

Why go to the moon, when we can take over Mars?
