The most important thing an enterprise needs to consider is creating and storing private keys, which is one of the most critical elements of security in cryptography.

A weakly generated private keys can be easily recreated by hackers and if these keys are not properly stored they could be lost or stolen.

A properly understood policy and procedure must be in place with a clear defined chain-of-custody for private keys and these keys must be properly provisioned and safely secured.

Given the fact that private keys can be easily copied and accessed electronically, they must be stored in an encrypted form. This creates a usability challenge on how to create, encrypt and store these password used to encrypt/decrypt these private keys and at the same time provide for a failsafe mechanism and process to retrieve these private keys.

The Privkey.io platform solves these problems by the use of a self-serve portal, multiple users, multiple keys, the use of Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) on secured hardened OS, as well as storing keys encrypted in different forms and geographic locations.
