July was marked by the growth of prices of bitcoin and some other major cryptocurrencies. There’s a chance the market’s bottom has been reached in June: Bitcoin showed noticeable growth in July, for the first time in two months rising above $ 8,000. So July is a good starting point for this new series of posts where I'll pick some interesting news of the month and follow the fates of top 30 cryptos.

Crypto News Background

  • The Swiss city of Zug, known as the "Crypto Valley" thanks to its support of the crypto industry, successfully finished testing of the city's blockchain-based electronic voting system.
  • A group of European banks announced the completion of a series of cross-border trade transactions through We.Trade, a jointly developed blockchain platform.
  • The Litecoin Foundation, the organization behind Litecoin cryptocurrency development, acquired in partnership with TokenPay about 10% of the German WEG Bank AG.
  • The developers of Opera browser announced testing a built-in cryptocurrency wallet and the support of Ethereum Web3 in the browser’s new Android version.
  • Augur decentralized platform was successfully launched in the Ethereum network.
  • From a recent patent won by MasterCard, it is evident that the payment giant became seriously interested in cryptocurrency payments.
  • Chinese search giant Baidu launched a proprietary token dubbed Totem Point and designed to reward users of its new blockchain-based Totem photo sharing service.
  • Tron acquired popular BitTorrent service.
  • Japanese companies Hitachi and KDDI are jointly testing a new blockchain-based retail payments system using customers’ fingerprints.
