Tether Creates Over 146 Mln New EUR, USD Tokens Based On Ethereum Blockchain

In a somewhat surprising move Tether USDT has started to transition from being a Bitcoin OMNI layer virtual token, into an Ethereum ERC20 token, starting on 22 Jan 18:

Tether has launched a fresh round of token creation, this month adding 86 mln euro-pegged EURT and 60.1mln dollar-pegged USDT to its issuance as Finance Magnates reports Feb. 15.

Deposits and withdrawals of the tokens began Jan. 22, but little more in terms of detail has surfaced regarding the scale of issuance now or for the future.

The inevitable charges of #FUD that will appear in comments to this article blatantly ignore the warning signs of market moves such as this. For example could the transition be part of an #exitscam to move between Bitcoin and Ethereum, thereby collapsing the price of Omni USDT and inflating ERC20 USDT? Many questions remain unanswerd. I will continue to report.

Serious questions now need to be asked, is an Omni $1 Tether equivilant to a $1 ERC20 Tether? Will there be trading pairs for USDT(Omni)/USDT(ERC20) on exchanges? I'm afraid I have to ring the alarm bell of #SCAM again, Tether is a major market risk.
