Are Those Moon Coin Faucets Worth Your Time?

Have you ever heard of a Bitcoin faucet?

My introduction to Steemit was also my introduction to cryptocurrencies. I had heard of Bitcoin and a few of the other bigger name coins, but I had no idea how they work (and I still know very little). My initial impression was that they were pretty hard for the average person to get their hands on. You have to get a digital wallet, but first you have to learn what the heck a digital wallet is. Then, you have to figure out how to get coins to put in your wallet. Then, you have to figure out how to get them there. It is quite overwhelming to the beginner. That was one of the things I liked about Steemit. The wallet is built right into the platform, so it was very user friendly.

After a while, though, I began to get curious about some of these other coins; and in my research, I discovered these things called coin faucets. They seemed kind of scammy, so I did some research and found a few that were pretty reputable and decided to try them out. This was back when Bitcoin was beginning last year's big run up, so as soon as I started using them, they started becoming less profitable.

A coin faucet is basically a web page that has lots of advertisements or tasks to perform from affiliates who pay to be on the site. As a way to generate traffic, the faucet site will pay out micro amounts of cryptocurrencies to those who perform visit the page and perform the tasks.

Did I mention the MICRO payments

Now, don't get it wrong: these things are definitely NOT a get rich quick type of thing. In fact, if you find one that is... RUN THE OTHER WAY! That one probably is a scam.

Moon Coin Faucets & The CoinPot Micro Wallet

The faucets that I started using were call Moon faucets. There is a Moon Bitcoin, Moon Dogecoin, Moon Litecoin, and Moon Dash fountain. They all work in conjunction with the CoinPot Micro Wallet.

As I mentioned earlier, right after I started using them, the price of Bitcoin skyrocketed, so the value of my faucet claims plummeted. It got to the point where it wasn't worth it to me to check in and make my claims. However, now that Bitcoin (and the rest of the crypto market) are back down, I am beginning to wonder if it might not be time to revisit my old faucet accounts. Over the next few weeks, I plan on documenting every faucet claim that I make and posting them here.

So, if you've ever wondered about coin faucets, or if you're new to cryptocurrencies and looking for a free way to tippy-toe into the market, follow along and see what you think.

Today's Claims

With the Moon Coin faucets, you are allowed to make a claim every 5 minutes, and the more often you claim, the more you stand to make: the longer you wait, the more slowly your coins will accrue. Now, I don't have a lot of time to make claims during the week, so I'll probably only get one in a day. During the weekend, though, I will try to claim as many times throughout the day as I can. That should give some good data to compare to see if it would be worth finding time during the week to make more claims.

Today marks DAY 1 of my little experiment, and here are the results, so far.

Today's Moon Bitcoin Claim (12/13)

As you can see, it had been a little shy of 22 hours since my last claim, and in that time I had accrued 115 Satoshi. But, with Moon coin faucets, you have a chance of receiving a bonus; so, my actual claim looked more like this:

At current Bitcoin prices ($3298.93 USD), that is a little over half a cent. That's not a lot, but maybe once I get my loyalty bonus built up that will improve. Furthermore, I'm playing the long-game in hopes that Bitcoin will go back up in value. Hopefully, by the time it does, I will have a worthwhile amount built up.

Today's Moon Dogecoin Claim (12/13)

So, my actual Dogecoin claim ended up being 0.56, which comes out to $0.001 USD (1 XDG = $0.002068 USD)

Today's Litecoin Claim (12/13)

I picked up 5489 Litoshi, which comes out to $0.00128041 at current LTC prices of $23.32692 USD.

Today's Dash Claim (12/13)

Note: the Dash fountain does not show the amount of time since your last claim.

I got 0.00007623 Dash worth $0.004369 USD.

Ummm..... yeah. I made a little over a penny in the 5 minutes or so it took me to make all of my claims on my crappy HughesNet satellite internet connection. Definitely NOT a get rich quick scheme. But, perhaps it could pay off over time? What do you think?

If you would like to try these things out along with me (I mean, they are FREE after all), it would be awesome if you used my affiliate links to sign up.

And, if you do, let me know how you do!
