Simon de la Rouviere @simondlr
Yes, front-running is a problem in bonding curves. Should be eventually solvable. @gnosisPM has done great work on usage of batch auctions + zk-snarks to avoid front-running.
Philip Daian @phildaian
Gnosis's system still has some degrees of freedom w.r.t. frontrunning (on the part of IIRC Plasma operator, though been a while since I looked). It's better, and IMO batch auctions are the way to go, but not perfect.
But yes, for naive TCRs this will be a big issue @ launch.

James Mase
Is it dangerous to keep your money in Tether?
Deniz Pembecioğlu
In my experience, the only danger is to miss-out some good runs. Otherwise tether is stable. So the money would stand still.
Cesar Farfan Delgado
Basically, it is a scam and it’s ruining crypto with price manipulation. Short term you may do fine, long term it is a fucking time bomb
Aleksander Fras
basically you have no idea, right? Business has been audited, and keeping money in tether is safe. only way to steal your tether is if somebody hacks exchange (wallets), but that is security issue of exchanges. Tether is been around since 2014 and has not been proved as a scam. Stop following Bitfinex'ed. That guy is just spitting everywhere without any proof
Joe Ross
Ask yourself this: Would Bittrex and Kraken (both US based exchanges subject to US regulations) allow you to deposit USD through a bank (subject to all sorts of regulations) and then buy Tether with it if they didn't have confidence in it?

So after much fiscal abuse over the last 8 months, I've finally gone through and put 20% stop losses on everything. I'm not day trading but I also want to cauterize this wound before it bleeds completely out. I'm curious as to what everyone else chooses as a good percent.
Before anyone says it, yes i know I should have done this long ago, but the over zealous optimist in me was sure we were at the bottom in Feb, and mar, and apr…
Garrett William Sundberg
A 20% stop Loss at this level would mean a $5900 stop-loss. Do you really think it’s optimal to sell your bitcoin for sub $6000 after holding all of 2018?
JP Theoneandonly
Alts stop lossed into btc. My btc and eth are in it for the long haul.
Marko Omcikus
you will regret selling in a few weeks I think. there's heaps of good market sentiment at the moment
JP Theoneandonly
important to note, I'm not selling at the moment, but rather setting stop losses to protect my "profit" in case the bottom falls out again
Garrett William Sundberg
I would consider looking at a chart and tightening those stop-losses. Blind 20% stop-losses can be dangerous man
Bradley Loveland
I only trade USD pairs and use a stop loss of between 5-7%.. if it goes up I can adjust it as needed, also "mow the grass" and take a little (gains) off the top…
example ... a typical $1000 investment, I'd set a 5% stop loss to lose no more than $50.
if it goes to $1100, I will take $50 off the top and back to USD

BTC Update!
Been away from charts for nearly a week and not going to lie, sure was relaxing! I've been out of town on a mini vacation with the family and chose to just take the mental break from all charts/trading during that time.
So jumping off last weeks charts, I had personally just exited in the low $6800s for majority of my last trade position and we did see some nice consolidation all the way back down to $6250 from there. But since then it's been pretty much all very nice bullish action with some extremely easy entries for bulls to play the bull breaks.
So what next?
I am looking at weekly, daily and 4 hour charts here.
Weekly - could this be a bear flag on weekly? Absolutely. We are not anywhere near breaking our down trend yet on the weekly chart. We have lower highs all year thus far with $8,488 or $8500 to make it easier as our key level to get above. I do not believe we can do that here without some significant news catalyst and would be far healthier for some consolidation to come in here soon and bulls get another higher low and then shoot for higher highs.
On weekly chart, I drew out hypotheticals of what I am personally watching. Yellow dashed line is where we are at. I did message a couple of you the last few days and was personally expecting a bounce up to $7000-7200 area on weekly before consolidation. But bulls still looking healthy so perhaps we get a bit higher here which is just giving a much stronger chance the weekly can then form a higher low. This is where green dashed lines are in play. We consolidated, get our higher low and then shoot for the higher highs and break this nasty downtrend of 2018. The bearish case to me is a lower high here and then a lower low (red dashed lines) or not pictured, a lower high here, higher low still but then another lower high and then lower low. I will remain on bearish side overall as thus far no reason to change that outlook since we have not changed any trend yet on larger time frame of the weekly chart.
Daily - this is a very nice chart for bulls. Consistent higher lows and really lack of resistance overhead. I have $7163 or can call it $7200 and then really not much until lower $8000s. Great news for the bulls but they have been running several days now and we may see some exhaustion here this week/weekend. Hopefully bulls can keep momentum on their side tho.
4 Hour - similar to daily, extemely strong and healthy with higher lows consistently being maintained since the BitMex maitenance day which was my last trading day personally. EMAs have held support very well last few days. RSI is a bit extended here so another reason to be cautious if in a position.
So overall, weekly has not changed anything thus far for the bigger picture but daily and 4 hour are showing nice bullish strength the past several days. I continue to expect some consolidation soon and that is perfectly healthy provided the bulls can keep weekly from dropping to a lower low and ideally keep 4 hour and daily relatively healthy but loss of higher lows there is not a red flag to me. Loss of weekly higher low would be and that is a ways away.
Personally - still all cash since I took the whole week off. I will be jumping back into trading later this week and back pretty much full time starting next week.
Just My 2 Sats!

Let's do a little mass adoption/BTC price comparisons to cash money and gold. If you were to spread out BTC to every man, woman and child in the the world everybody would get 0.00282182 BTC. To match the cash money in the world that 0.00282182 BTC would have a value $4837 USD or 1 BTC would have a value of $1.7mil. Obviously, this is if BTC took over as the main currency of the world. Now, if you want to compare it to the mined gold in the world. That same 0.00282182 BTC would have a value of $1007 USD or $357,000 per BTC. This is just for fun but, it does open your eyes on how much more growth BTC has left.
Kishore Shenoy
This presumes equal shares for all ppl. But there would be unequal shares and this might be a literal possibility without every single guy possessing it...with the very rich having a lot and the very poor having literally nothing...soo…
Good analysis though
Thomas Chadderdon
I just threw the equal amounts in there to show how limited BTC is.
Brandon Carlson
I think a better comparison is global money supply. Getting to 5 or 10% of that, last I checked, means a btc value north of $250k

Refutation to savingprivatedash's Proposal to Demote Ryan Taylor
by kanuuker
Recently a proposal was submitted to the Dash masternode network requesting the demotion of Ryan Taylor, the CEO of Dash Core Group (DCG). DCG is the core development team hired by the Dash DAO. The proposal’s author, savingprivatedash, provided 7 points to support his argument. I am going to discuss each of these points directly.
This is the link to the proposal - r/https://www.dashcentral.org/p/demote-ryan-taylor-to-an-advisory-role
(1) “Ryan destroyed the market's confidence in Dash by repeatedly breaking promises and missing deadlines. Dash was once valued at 0.09BTC and it is now 0.02, in spite of millions of dollars available to him. Vault accounts, usernames, friends lists, easy to use mobile wallets, marketplace. None of the 2016 promises were kept. Even Amanda Johnson, once Dash's biggest fan and now nowhere to be seen, said publicly she would give DCG until Dec 31 2018 to deliver on Evolution. Unfortunately, she is in for yet another disappointment, since we are in August 2018 and there isn't even a roadmap yet. If Ryan were to present one during this quarterly call, there is no reason he should be believed.”
Ryan has not broken a single promise or missed a deadline by any unreasonable amount. The original roadmap for Evolution was developed before before Ryan was CEO and before any real work on Evolution had been started. It was overly optimistic and Ryan said so when he took the position as DCG CEO. The timeline was readjusted to Evolution being released in Q4 2018. Dash is still on track to meet that goal.

AgroCognitive Venezuela updates

AgroCognitive team published this video to show community how is going our work with farmers leveraging data and crop's pictures at Portuguesa State (Venezuela) thanks to SOCA's (Sugar Cane Farmers Association) partnership.
Also we began this week its first meetup with entrepreneurs and sugar cane’s customers. This people uses molasses to elaborate granolas, food and alcohol. They got our train about cryptocurrencies and how to download wallet and use Dash to send and receive payments.
Now they know how to pay to sugar plants (where sugar cane is ground) to get raw material !

New proposal to rise funds for Dash projects
by jesccs
Hi community. As you know, last Dash central cycles have been stretched due to current dash price, DCG and dash flagship projects leaving many great proposals unfunded.
AgroCognitive team developed a platform to help Dash community to fuel more projects:
MEGA DASH RAFFLE is a benefit raffle platform to raise funds for Dash community projects while backers (players) get a chance to win a jackpot prize. For each ticket purchased, ticket price will be distributed (in % that may vary) to three wallets:
Jackpot for the raffle prize (40%)
Beneficiary project (50%)
Administration of the raffle system (10%)

DeltaDex launched! True DEX, Immutable Contract, Extra precision
by deltadexio
DeltaDex: https://deltadex.io/
DeltaDex is a fully decentralized exchange (true DEX) built on EOS.
Unique features:
True Dex
The exchange is fully decentralized, it is completely controlled by a smart contract deployed on the EOS platform. Everything is on-chain (e.g. transactions, order books).
There are many advantages of a true DEX, including transparency, security and reliability.
Immutable smart contract
The exchange has adopted the Temporary Immutability pattern (proposed by xJonathanLEI).
This means that no one will be able to modify the exchange logic or control users' funds manually during the immutable period (even the contract owner will not have the power to modify or control anything).
Extra precision
The exchange supports EOS price that has up to 8 decimal places (Note: most dapps can only support up to 4 decimal places).
This means that users will be able to offer and buy cheaper tokens (i.e. a token can be as cheap as 0.00000001 EOS).

EOSIO 1.2.3 Released to Prevent Unexpected RAM Consumption - coinness.com
by CoinnessPress
According to IMEOS, the EOSIO 1.2.3 provides bug fixes and regression tests as follows:
Deprecation of the ability of a notified contract to bill RAM to authorizers of the original action;
Fixes to CPU greylist feature (#5462);
Regression Tests for Previous Security Issues.
Coinness: Real - time, real news.
Redmondj1
Does anyone know if the fix has any effect on the ability to airgrab tokens in regards to absorbing the RAM cost.
Grandmoren
It shouldn't. You don't actually send tokens when you airgrab, it's just an action call which is fine.

A twitter bot about Maker and DAI
by marcandu
Hey MakerDAO fans, I deployed a twitter bot that tweets about CDP and DAI events.
It’s tweeting in real time about:
Large CDP DAI draws
Whale CDPs
Large CDP DAI wipes
Liquidation/defaults
Risky CDPs
Minting/burn activity summary
Risk Parameter changes (fees, liquidation ratio, etc.)
More to be added!
Check it out! https://twitter.com/MakerDaiBot
I’ve put filters in place to avoid sending too many tweets and I will be adjusting them as we go along to keep things interesting. For instance, it currently tweets only about draws that are over 50,000 DAI, I might reduce or increase this following market conditions.

MakerDAO Qs Part 1
by coltonrobtoy
I spent my entire first 3 weeks of August reading everything about the MakerDAO System. I came up with ~40 Qs I still had about the System after getting through all my Chrome Tabs. All Qs are here.
Rich recommended I try to crowdsource the answers from the Community over the next 1-2 Weeks to try to get them all answered, so here I am.
What are the possible outcomes if most of the newly minted MKR Tokens get bought by 1 entity?
What is the insurance fund?
What is the expected MKR Half-Life (Time for Supply of MKR to be cut in half)? What assumptions and values were used for this calculation?
Do you believe more people will take part in the MakerDAO ecosystem directly after a Global Settlement? Why/Why Not?
During an MKR Recapitalization event is MKR sold on an exchange (like OasisDex) or does it accumulate in some MakerDAO pool that people go and buy from with their Dai? Is that Inflated MKR only sold for Dai?

#BuiltOnEOSIO: Sydney’s Emanate Determined to Create a New Musical Ecosystem
Eosio
We turn our DAPP spotlight on the company that’s building a music streaming and collaboration network on EOSIO
The phrase “struggling musician” has become so much a part of the vocabulary of our times that it’s almost a cliché. Musicians were never universally rolling in cash, granted, but it’s undeniable that the digital age has disrupted traditional revenue models, even as it has become easier than ever to disseminate and find new music.

Blockchain Is on Track to Redefine Accounting
genEOS Official
While accounting goes through the difficulties of manual recording-keeping, data duplication, and inefficient verifications, blockchain can overcome these shortcomings. In addition, the technology guarantees data security and eases reconciliations.
Where Accounting Stands Now
Accounting works in such a way that every new record is to be checked several times. This comes from the genuine double-entry approach. Also, it’s because record details come from different sources, and after all the data manipulations the result needs to be balanced.
This data is typically kept in a centralized storage allowing only accountants and auditors to access. Although this approach is easy-to-hack, data forging is complicated because various third parties such as auditors, tax authorities, banks, and courts verify all the records regularly.

Reserve’s Analysis of the MakerDAO Protocol
Nevin Freeman
MakerDAO’s Dai has received the lion’s share of stablecoin coverage in recent months, with only Basis as a close runner-up. (Read our analysis of the Basis protocol here.) There are many reasons to be positive on Dai: the stabilization algorithm is well-thought-out, and they have a large and well-capitalized team behind it. In addition, it minimizes the risks to everyday users. However, we believe Dai will ultimately not work. Even if its stabilization algorithm could maintain the peg — which we are skeptical of — there’s a serious risk that it won’t be able to scale.
Dai is tough to analyze. It confuses people. This is partly because it iscomplicated, containing several interacting mechanisms; partly because there are different versions of the Dai protocol, which are sometimes confused, and partly because there is no canonical documentation.
Because Dai’s stabilization algorithm is in fact complicated, to explain why we’re concerned it won’t succeed we must examine the protocol in detail. This makes this post especially dense — definitely not light reading!
If you feel you have a good enough understanding of how Dai works, you can skip ahead to part 2, which goes into detail on Dai’s stabilization mechanisms, or part 3, where we lay out our full assessment of Dai.
