Never considered the survivor bias on this topic before, but it makes sense! I think a certain amount of caution is always advised when approaching new things, but opposite of "don't be on the wrong side of history" a good mindset might be: "Don't be lazy and read into new things". Because new things try to come into our lives all the time and people often stick to prejudices and the superficial information they hear from others.
