The HODLR has finally become the MASTER!

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

I came in a crypto world where "HODL" was akin to religion. Everyone "who got it" was all about the "HODL". Wait and never sell, you'll get there was the mantra. A few people disagreed: the traders.
There weren't many of them but they were vocal. Back in the ol' days ( last year), people did not trade as they do today. No, sir! They HODL.

Then, July came and the HODLRs felt they were winning the ideological war. Oh look, these be the pump we all waited for. Some sold but the cries were - strangely?! - more vocal than EVER.
HODL
HODL!!!!!
H O D L!!

In August, all the HODLRs started to realize that their portfolio is getting killed in BTC. Some started to trade ( with the same effect).
Some just HODLed and cried themselves to sleep.
Most FOMOed.
It was a trader's paradise and for a while there, it seems that crypto was not all about those hodling gains. FUD, fury, disgust, a lot of HODLRs thre the bags to the ground.
NEVER AGAIN!

A new mantra started to take hold:
Sell your pumps!!

Then the last month came and the HODLRs could finally be smug. The HODLRs could finally laugh at the pump sellers:
You thought that was a pump...uhm, booooi you did fk up...
PUMP after PUMP after PUMP left people dumbfolded. What was going on? How could this coin keep going and going? Surely a correction was coming?
Surely...this is a bubble?!

And so they waited. The biggest saddest bunch of crypto world: those lefts without bags!!! ( there should be a name for them!).

In the other camp, the HODLRs profits were bigger than ever, most than most better traders. Day by day they got richer, and more annoying.
They finally did it.
They were living the dream. And they were looking down on all non-believers and early sellers and the traders. not so smart now, huh?!.
And of course they won't sell come hell or high water.

Of course, I'm in the wrong camp here. But that's because being a HODLR was always dubious to me. "Do nothing" and profit? Sounds like hogwash. Surely,I have to do something, right? This is the opposite of everything the real world tells us: work hard and good things will happen. Never: be idle and you shall make gains!.
Maybe it's a zen thing.

Nice story. But what is next?
Will the tables turn?
We'll find out in a bit. Stay tuned for the next episode of the ever-entertaining -narrated by your truly -:
THE CRYPTO SHOW!

So what are you?

This was too funny 😂😂 they should place this at the bottom of every crypto chart

thank you, sir!!!

my mistake, ma'am!

I like to think of hodlin differently. As you know I trade... But I also hodl. When I trade I look for short term profit but with the other coins that do not cost me a lot I hodl them. For a long time. After all what does 20 or 30 quid really matter? It's like a gamble. For example my initial but if ripple cost me 20 wood. I won't say how much it is worth now ;0) it's nice seeing multiples of thousands of percent though!

I totally agree. Someone told me once that HODLing is a concept that is very misunderstood in crypto: it doesn't necessarily mean never taking profits, it means never selling it all off if possible.
Yes 100000% up looks like the software glitched :))

Hehe, it's exactly that!

Viva the glitches!! :0)

I'm somewhere in between. I must admit, I've traded in the past, for short term gain and I don't regret my choice. However, I also hodl (I'm hodling right now :P) and invest because I believe the future will be the true jaw-dropper, so...

"the future will be true jaw-dropper" <--- really like this!

Good Shot Bro 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Great story, I'm in the between, I usually Hodl until my profit is doubled, then sell some.

A little bit of both. HODL the right stuff and Trade the right stuff.... well.... hopefully XD

Your NIKE edit was brilliant!

Trade to increase the HODL as some guy said!!

I tend toward a HODLING pattern....

HAHA. Well said!!
PS: great description! Princess Bride much?!

What's Princess Bride?

Def a HODLER here, sometimes trading to increase the HODL

I'm definitely a HODLer, in regards to profit taking, I'm not a fan simply because when you exchange crypto into fiat you have to pay taxes. I rather wait for the moment when I'll be able to buy stuff directly with crypto.

I'm in your camp. But I want to expand the portfolio a bit. So that's my next pet project.

don't take profits in fiat :D

Definitely a HODLR since in my country there is a 0% tax on crypto that is hodled for over one year... in a bull market hodling is definitely the right thing to do, but we'll see what happens if this whole thing turns bearish
