Are all crypto ALTCOINS DEAD?! X X

in #crypto9 years ago (edited)

Those of you peeling at your Blockfolio now, probably are swimming in a pool of RED BLOOD.
BTC is there to laugh at your measly alts as you see their value ( in BTC ) go lower and lower. You were duped, you fked up, you poor, is crypto actually just BTC?

My opinion is that most likely not. If this is to rock the world from its roots and decentralize it, BTC can't be IT. It surely can be part of the whole movement, the leader, the visionary but crypto can not mean only BTC because BTC really can't do much for people ( beyond making a few people really really really rich). It can open your mind to the possibilities, it can make you think that maybe a different way it is possible but that's just navel grazing without something practical. And BTC is not practical at all.

For reason I don't want to get into...but gave us BCH, r/btc, r/bitcoin and endless articles and discussions, BTC can not do it all and anyway does not want to. In the end, some project must start to bring people into crypto by showing them that there is a better way and why. BTC doesn't do much of that.

So all thise "alts" are actually totems for projects that are promising stuff. Amazing stuff, mundene stuff, all decentrlazied, better, faster cheaper and of course, decentralized. A new internet, a new financial system, a new way to live and get the value that it is owened to you by corporations and various entities tht right now just use you ( weather you want it or not, likeit or not). Crypto promises a better world.

Buying into alts is betting on this future. It is painful too because probably you would have made more, much more, just by having BTC. So right now you look like a loser but maybe in a few years it will be your ticket to riches..or not. We can't know who or what projects will win out and when but I can not accept the idea that BTC is the only coin worth having.

Take Steem ( and steemit! ). This is one project that, despite all the criticism and slow progress and the various political fights we had over the year(s), it did something amazing: it brought A LOT of people into crypto. Forced us to learn, to evolve, to love crypto, alts and BTC. This had a real impact in people's life..from the payout to the chance to be part of the growth. It came at the right time, an amazing idea that still works and evolves. Steem is underrated right now in my opinion but also, its impact is not yet clear but I think it will be far-reaching!

Like Steemit there are more and more and more projects brewing, evolving, building. Eventually more and more will burst and start to matter. When there will be enough of those, we will be there.
Will BTC still be king? Maybe and maybe at value that we can not even imagine now, but there will be more alts at really good prices changing the world.
If this doesn't happen, I do not see how BTC will hold or why.

10.000$!!

Alts are the currency, BTC is a store of value. When BTC is on a rocket alts show red in comparison but soon catch up. if you look at all the top alts over a 30 day period they are green as grass, most over a 50% gain, some over 300%.

in USD, we're talking in BTC price where most are actually in red even on longer period..especially in the last month...

Happening right now, pure blood bath.
no place to hide, except Tether that did over 1 Billion volume today hehe
Cheers

heh, read more about tether...

In the meantime I am just waiting for DASH to go down.

If I can offer my 2 cents, I'd buy XMR than dash or even PIVX maybe...

Monero is privacy king. No other coin can do it as well. DASH is well marketed, but the fundamentals are not actually that strong imo

I agree but the race is not over :D

Yeah - long way to go! Im sure more and more people will start becoming concerned about privacy in their coins over the next couple of years. The fact that Monero has privacy as default (rather than optional) will really help set it apart, but I am still concerned about the comparatively high fees and difficult scaling process. Luckily, the devs are some of the most active and inventive, so with enough smart people working on solutions I see XMR staying at the front of the pack!

You are correct...BTC is not all to this story. It gets the headlines and has the name recognition yet it is far from the only game in town. Many of the other alt coins actually have better blockchains that are designed to solve particular problems. As you mentioned steem is one of them.

Overall, the cryptomarket is going to explode. There will be moves that people cannot even imagine. People who have $10,000 in crypto could well be millionaires a year from now. That is the power of Wall Street. When they start buying, they swallow everything up.

It's over 11 at the moment ;)

I dont really get it, Bitcoin goes up alts go down? bitcoin goes down alts go down?

The only time alts seem to do "ok" is when bitcoin is steady
