Over the years, there has been a problem, plaguing the medical record system. The old method of storing people’s medical information in hospitals and unit agencies is obviously obsolete. Beside the high cost of running this obsolete method, it causes great harm when these information are misrepresented.
All over the world, there has been a growing demand to create a medical information system that will give individuals/patients and doctors alike, easy access to the accurate medical record of the said patient because this will guarantee fast and effective treatment.
To bring lasting solution to these challenges, MediBloc is born.
What is MediBloc?
MediBloc is a blockchain-based decentralized health information system, developed to give patients the right they deserve by empowering them to have access to their own medical information. This way, they can also give access to whomever they deem necessary – school, hospital etc…

MediBloc was co-founded by Dr. Allen Wookyun Kho and Dr. Eunsol Lee.

Beside their medical expertise, both men are seasoned engineers with years of experience in blockchain programming. During their days in the medical field, they were able to spot the shortcomings in the medical data storage culture and the challenges that often accompany that.
There are lots of partnership deals from many reputable health institutions, companies and individuals. They want to have a stake and be numbered amongst the beneficiaries of what many experts have described as an exceptionally awesome project.

Another Look At Contemporary Medical Records Systems
Although medical practices have varying regulatory policies in different countries of the world, in most cases, the data is very centralized. There are also certain stringent privacy laws which regulate how and who has access to the data.
Because these data are in custody of different medical institutions, the process of transferring a patient’s record from one place to another is often a problem. Sometimes, it is either they send the wrong data or the data got missing, thereby forcing the patient to go through another tedious test.
Medical Data & Research
There have been prohibitions in accessing medical records due to privacy laws.
MediBloc is duly positioned to fix this problem. It will do so by giving patients complete power over their medical data. And then, they decide who gains access or who should not.
Security
Now, it is important to find out how secure the patient’s data has been under the obsolete, centralized method of keeping health data. The different institutions, holding patients’ data are prone to varying degrees of attack because they are not as properly secured as bloachchain can be.
Relying on blockchain technology, MediBloc will always ensure that the patient’s data is only shared with his or her permission.
However, there is a need for some sort of flexibility here. MediBloc has attended to the questions of emergency by developing the access level in such a way that if a patient is not capable of giving consent due to medical reasons, any family member or next of kin can make decisions on behalf of such patient and make the data accessible to the medical professionals. This is the only instance where third party can make a decision on behalf of account owner; otherwise, it is strictly the right of the owner of the account to decide who gains access to their information and who must not.
Prospect
MediBloc is gearing towards restructuring medical health data in other to bring out the hidden potentials and give users deserving rewards.
These rewards will be felt in various fields like insurance companies who will in near future begin to save lots of money that would ordinarily go for claims.
Also, MediBloc is making the offer of open-source API and SDK - tools that developers can use to implement new services within the MediBloc platform. As a matter of fact, SDK v0.1 has alredy been released. Have a look here
