New (budget) Mining Rig!!! Excited to put it together and get it up and running.steemCreated with Sketch.

A few months ago, I finally dove into mining properly. That is, I bought my first physical hardware with a specific purpose: To mine various cryptocurrencies, upholding their network and receiving value in return for that service, allocated by my hardware specifications.

Currently mining Monero/Fantomcoin and Ethereum.

Today my new parts finally arrived, albeit not all of them… Still waiting on my CPU as well as a memory stick and they both arrive tomorrow so patience isn’t too much of an issue. As it stands this Rig, lets call its RIG2 has the following specifications:

Intel Pentium G4400 3.30GHz @ 56.95 euro

Gigabyte Z370P D3 @ 99 euro

ASUS GTX 1060 PH 3GB @ 289 euro 3x

Corsair AX860 @ 189.90 euro

Corsair 4GB Ram @ 56.90

Corsair SSD 60GB @ 43.99 euro

I originally wanted to buy Gigabyte 1070’s @ 449 euro (a bargain). When I finally got my fiat from exchange to my bank and ready to spend on hardware at https://www.alternate.nl, not only had they marked up the price of all the readily available GPU’s, they also didn’t have my first, second and third choices as far as the 1070’s were concerned…

I searched the site for a half hour until I found a satisfying GPU even though I would have preferred the hashrate the 1070’s were to give me. Thankfully I didn’t end up having the experience my room mate had to go through though. His order is still partially stuck and he is waiting for support to let him know if he will get his 1070’s or his money, and how long either option takes. He was ‘fortunate’ enough to order his hardware a few days prior to me when the 1070’s were “still in stock” and “ready to ship”… you’d assume a reseller this large would automate certain tasks.

I sincerely hope that the hardware manufacturers can stop sitting on their hands and start producing at the rate the market is demanding. With mining-specific GPU’s becoming mainstream this year this shouldn’t be too hard of a goal for the to achieve, that is if greed doesn’t get in the way which it inherently tends to be real good at.

Since the CPU has yet to arrive I just started with a few of the basics like: drilling holes in my Rig backboard for the Motherboard to fit into and putting onto it:

Sorting through all the cables and finding the right ones, then laying them out:

Here is a picture of the GPU’s I opted for (I had three to choose from and this price was the least unjustifiable…):

I got the following PSU, Platinum rated because I’d rather prevent a fire from happening, and if a little more money does the trick I am all for it as I’ll earn it back over the coming months (I only buy Platinum and will not compromise):

It even has a super efficient mode...

And finally here is another picture of RIG1:

Thanks for taking the time to stop by here and take a look at my article. I will have an update on the set up with hashrates and more in the coming week so stay tuned for that.

Peace, Love and Light.
