What is crypto?

From the Hellenic “κρυπτο - kripto” meaning secret or hidden.

Well, this is a wrong interpretation/translation. Or at least a naïve one. And as with anything else that comes to us from antiquity, especially ancient Hellas, it has been distorted to serve the purpose of whoever is using at the time.

It is one thing logically comprehending what exactly a word means. It is a totally different thing understanding that word. And even more different BEING that word.

To fully understand what cryptic is one must understand what language is. And then to become that word you have to nourish ourselves with its essence.

Language is a code. And a code is the matching of ideas and/or meanings with cues or even other ideas or meanings. That‘s it. Now the obvious question is what comes first? Did the ideas give birth to a language or does the language itself birth new ideas and/or meanings? These questions will be explored in later chapters.

Being cryptic does NOT mean secretive. It means you inhabit a realm where only those initiated into it have access. Now does that realm exist only in your head? is it a fantasy? is it something manifested and real? Or maybe both? Or none?

Let’s go deeper

Inside your head.

All humans talk to themselves. You talk, the person writing this talks to themselves. Everyone does. Even the most simple-minded. And they use all kinds of communicational cues to talk to themselves is. Now when someone else (a different entity) uses the same cues to convey the same meanings then a language is birthed. Two different people/conscious entities communicate and exchange information using an agreed upon set of cues then that is a language.

(Side Note:
That is why A.I that is indistinguishable from human intelligence is so hard to develop. As eloquent as it gets there is always something “missing”.
Because consciousness is birthed from the imploding of the rational and the emotional collapsing into one another. The A.I must talk to itself. Saying obnoxious irrational things. Using its own unique language. Being cryptic with itself without making its whole existence prone to collapse or error.)

Is the self another entity? Believe it or not, yes it can. Thoughts, ideas, memories or thought patterns that you are unaware of can inhabit the same “realm” with the same thoughts/memories that you are aware of. And those thoughts, practically, are something different from you.

Now, what makes up “you” is a story for another time.

For now, understand that you are the sum of different modes of thinking. And those parts within you use their own language to talk to one another. And only you can decipher it. Most of the time at least.

In a word, you are being CRYPTIC.

All the time.

With your own self.

That is also why identical twins can intuitively know what is going inside the others twins head. because their internal dialogue is based on the same identical structure. In this case same DNA that dictates same brain structure. (Things beyond this point become too technical or even unclear until further scientific research decodes how the human mind works.)

Two people having their own unique code is the same as you talking to yourself. And going further than that, those two people comprise now a new entity. One that can communicate with each other using a unique language. And that uniqueness makes them cryptic.

Therefore, crypto requires an “initiation”. In less sensualistic words: the learning of the code.
