STEEM and steemit.com are very unique in the sense that they've bridged the gap between your average cryptocurrency user (read: nerdo neckbeard) and the rest of the internet. While the Bitcoin and other larger cryptocurrency communities consist primarily of males aged 16-50, the STEEM and steemit.com community seems to have a broader range of users better reflecting what one would expect on any other social media platform.

The unisex nature of STEEM is a great starting point for crypto for female users. Whereas most cryptocurrencies seem to require a fair degree of technical knowledge to safely use, STEEM has made it incredibly user friendly to receive and send crypto currency without the user even realizing they are doing so. By slowly easing into the technical aspects of crypto the conversion and adoption rates of other crypto currencies will be seen soon in the female population.

Where the other cryptos failed

The predecessor cryptocurrencies have failed in widespread adoption due to steep learning curves, uninviting communities and the general objectification of women. Bitcoin is a prime example of this with majority of users being male, with most of the remaining female population using it having learned about it either through their spouse or through BTC cam sites..
